The story dates back in 2004. It’s about a guy named Fidel Lansangan and a girl
named Stella Puno. Both are 17 years old, and pursuing a course in Psychology. These
two are the polar opposites of each other, just like any typical pairing for a love story.
Fidel was a hardworking and studious guy who had a speech defect and loves to write
poetry, and his father keeps on mentioning the three-word-per-sentence rule as advised
by the doctors. It shows that Fidel’s speech impediment is not a part of his personality
but rather an illness. While Stella is a punk rock star and a female vocalist in a local band
at Pampanga and she would rather pursue her passion in music than study. Stella came
from a family of musicians but tragically lost her parents in an accident, making her an
orphan at a very young age. She’s taken care of by her sister whose husband is waiting
for her to follow to Canada and whose departure is delayed by Stella.
The two met at a party and started off as friends but then Fidel suddenly began to
have feelings for her. Fidel then decided to make poems for Stella, it served as an outlet
for him to pour out the unsaid words that he lacks the courage to say to in front of her.
The film doesn’t show your typical comedic type of approach. Problems arise at the
middle of the film; it shows that Stella is willing to do anything just to achieve her
dreams. She’s not afraid to cut classes, she could sacrifice her studies, and she would
even date guys that she doesn’t even like just so she can get a contract from a music
company. Her strong aura shows independence but she depends on others by using
people just to reach her ambitions of becoming an artist. You can clearly see the
struggles the character has.
The ending was heart breaking for me because the two did not end up together,
but even so, we must accept this and move on just like Fidel did in the movie. The world
does not stop for you, and it does not stop for anybody either. “Hindi dapat tumigil ang
ikot ng mundo mo dahil lang hindi naging kayo.” After some time, Fidel moved on and
he continued to write poetry, this time, on a new perspective. “Behold, this is the new
chapter for someone wiser and stronger, then a pebble, now a boulder, this world he
shall conquer…” This poem shows how pain and heartbreak changed Fidel but instead of
succumbing to depression, he conquered and continued to live his life. Gone was the
frail and naïve boy, Fidel now became a better and stronger version of himself.

1.) How did the film make you feel? What aspects worked well and which
didn’t? (writing, direction, cinematography, acting, editing, and soundtrack)
Of course, the film made me sad, the part where Stella left Fidel and their
relationship didn’t work while Fidel was hard working and didn’t let the
breakup/rejection stop him.
2.) Does the world of the film work like the real-world? If not, what are the
differences?
Yes, teenagers now experience this kind of relationship.
3.) How does the film end? Is everything resolved? How? If not, why not?
Everything is resolved, yes. Stella was pregnant and stayed with her current
partner while Fidel found someone new.
4.) How does the film handle the underlying themes, morality, policies, religion,
sexuality, happiness, freedom, love, spiritual, identity, etc.?
They didn’t show anything about these topics to the movie except freedom
and love. You need to free yourself from someone who doesn’t love you.
5. What good insights into life are there in the film? What does it wrong? How
might it affect viewers?
You should move on. Don’t let one rejection stop you from living, viewers
might reflect themselves in the movie.
