COURSE DESCRIPTION
The ‘Human Behavior’ course is an introduction to the basic principles and methods of study relating to
human behavior. It presents major concepts, principles and processes concerned with human functioning in
individual and social settings.

This course is designed to provide a foundation for more advanced study in the field of Psychology.

GOALS AND OBJECTIVES


1. Recognize major contributors to the field of psychology; and identify events & theories that characterize
the history of Psychology.
2. Understand psychological research methods, concepts and terminology; and be able to recognize them in
practice.
3. Describe the major theories and concepts of learning; and generate examples applicable to life.
4. Recognize the function & role of memory, motivation & emotion.
5. Recognize the various theories of personality, their proponents, significant terms and concepts.
6. Recognize & identify the categories of various psychological disorders; and the various treatment
modalities and approaches.
7. Integrate & apply the concepts in the above objectives to what students observe and experience in their
own life.

40% 4 Quizzes, Assignments or Response Papers (announced or unannounced)
30% Midterm Exam (cumulative)
30% Final Exam (cumulative)
Quizzes & Exams will include MCQs, matching items, fill in the blanks, short or long essay questions, etc.

 Turn off cell phones. Keep them in your bag, not on your desk.
 It is your responsibility to keep track of your grades.
 Get in the habit of using the TA’s services to help follow the course.
 Lecture notes are not available to students on LMS
EXAMS
 Some Quizzes & Response Papers are given without prior announcement, some are announced
 NO make-up tests are given.
 Quizzes & Final Exam will be a combination of MCQs & short/long essay questions
 If you have to miss a exam inform the instructor BEFORE the test/exam... not after.
ATTENDANCE
Regular attendance is a requirement for this class.

policy.
