STRESS MANAGEMENT

The term "stress" is difficult to define and may mean different things to different people in divergent

circumstances. The oldest definition stress as the "non-specific (i.e. common) result of any demand on the

body, whether the effect be mental or somatic".

Ayurveda brings about the balance between our Physical & Mental aspects and helps us to remain naturally

beautiful. Herbs of tremendous medicinal values are found abundantly in nature. Ayurveda uses these herbs

individually and in special blends to treat every kind of Physical & Psychological Problems.

As the Stress builds up, we move towards the Lack of Confidence and a feeling of Inferiority becomes a part

of our Life. Lest the Thorn / The Cause/ The Toxins/ Stress is removed only then the normal healing

mechanism of the body is initiated or else it effects the other organs of the body & thus Incurable Diseases

are produced.

Skin, the Largest Organ in our body directly reveals the energetic level of the entire Psychophysical unit; it is
a transparent mirror where the movement of the doshas brings about changes also of a radical nature in its

biochemical balance. Skin is the expression of our overall State of Health; this Stress invariably affects it.

The diseases of the skin like Psoriasis, Eczema, Dandruff, Lichen Planus etc occur due to this Stress.

It is important to note that most of the stress that most of us have is actually self-generated. This is a

paradox because so many people think of external stressors when they are upset (it is the weather, the boss,

the children, the spouse, the stock market). Recognizing that we create most of our own upsets, however, is an

important first step to dealing with them.

The most important thing is, to be able to monitor your stress levels and know how to deal with your problems

as they appear. The body is superbly equipped to deal with stress, but up to a certain level. If you're adaptive

resources become overworked and exhausted, your body ceases to function smoothly. Different organs then

can become stress targets.

Signs of stress overload:

• Continuing psychological and emotional problems
• Teeth grinding
• Digestive problems
• Gastritis or ulcers
• Headaches
• High blood pressure, strokes
• Diabetes
• Heart disease
• Exhaustion, chronic fatigue

Treatment Methods for Stress Management

• PanchaKarma Treatments

• Rasayana Therapies

The PanchaKarma Treatments are meant to flush out the toxins, they are classified as pre-purification, main

purification and post purification phases and include various types of therapies like oil massages, fermented

liquid massages, medicinal enemas, herbal purification methods.

The Rasayana Therapies are meant to nourish the body, to bring the doshas back to balance and to

regenerate the body. These comprise diet regulations, daily regimens, intake of oral medicines and ayurveda

tonics, yoga and a stress free life. After the treatment the ayurveda doctors will advise you how to lead a

healthy life. The benefits and results of the treatment are shown only after the Rasyana Treatment is over

and doctor’s advice is strictly followed. The results will manifest it normally after 3 to 4 weeks as the body

takes time to regenerate itself.

Diet Regulation for Stress Management
Diet regulation will be suggested for patients suffering from Stress Management. Proper diet is a brilliant

means of controlling and curing Stress Management. Ayurveda diet provides adequate nutrition as well as rest

for the needed organs.

Stress Management patients are advised to stick to a pure, natural and wholesome diet, low in fat and

cholesterol. They should strictly avoid alcohol, salt, sweets, tobacco etc. A diet of natural foods and

germinated wheat are recommended. Raw root vegetables, whole wheat bread, cheese, butter, honey, and raw

milk are recommended. Juice of fresh fruits and vegetables should be consumed in large quantities

JOINT PAIN MANAGEMENT

Joint pains are very disadvantageous because they can interfere in the normal functioning of people. From an

Ayurvedic point of view, joint pains occur when there are digestive problems in the body, which leads to the

buildup of toxins in the spaces between the joints. Hence, when the joints are moved in the slightest, pain is

felt in them.

Some people live with excruciating joint pains that don't go despite treatment. They look upon these pains as a

part of growing up. However, with the right kind of medicine these pains can be totally eliminated.
Causes of joint pain:
• Wear-and-tear, such as from overuse, injury, or osteoarthritis. Osteoarthritis is the most common form of
arthritis, or joint inflammation,
• Conditions that affect metabolism, such as gout and pseudogout. These conditions result from materials
being deposited into the joints,
• Infections of the joint, sometimes called septic arthritis.
• Autoimmune disorders, in which a person's body produces antibodies against its own tissues. These disorders
include rheumatoid arthritis and systemic lupus erythematosus.

Treatment with Simple Home Remedies

• Prepare a paste of mustard seeds with a little water. Apply this oily paste onto the affected joints. The pains

will be eliminated in a short while.

• Cook some seeds of Bishop's weed in water. Let the water boil and the fumes come out. Bring your affected
joints in contact with the fumes. This will make the joint pains disappear.

• The banyan tree produces a sap much like the latex from rubber. This is used as an external application over

the joints. This application relieves the pains in the joints after a few regular applications and massages.

• Garlic is a very effective remedy for the treatment of joint pains. About five to six cloves of garlic must be

eaten every morning to seek relief.

• Dandelion is rich in magnesium, an element that is needed for the proper mineralization of the bones. Use of

dandelion makes the bones stronger and protects them from pains

Skin Care

Beauty is the perfection of what is visually perceived. Healthy internal radiance is regarded by Ayurveda as

the true definition of beauty. The skin is seen as the mirror of inner health. The external body is simply the

manifestation of everything that happens inside, including our emotions. By addressing the components of our

life, we can control our skin's health.

At the heart of Ayurveda is a detailed system of diagnosis according to constitutional types (dosha). In the

aesthetics of Ayurveda, we notice stress shown on the skin in different ways. Our skin may be dehydrated,

oily, acne prone, or subjected to occasional or frequent rashes, depending on our constitutional type. As we

age, most of us are aware that our skin just doesn't look as good as it could-doesn't have a glow to it.

Your skin is like a mirror: it reflects what's going on inside. Blemishes, eruptions, patches and sallow skin are

often related to inappropriate diet or lifestyle choices that lead to accumulation of dietary toxins, called ama

in Ayurveda. Following a skin-friendly diet, making sure your digestion-absorption-elimination cycle is efficient

and supplementing with skin-friendly herbs help your skin look clear, radiant, healthy and youthful.

Clear, healthy, lustrous skin can be yours at any age if you spend just a few minutes taking care of it every day.

A skincare routine should ideally start in the pre-teen years and be followed regularly for the best results.

Also, a healthy balanced diet and an efficient digest-absorb-assimilate cycle inside your body are crucial for

vital, healthy skin.

Three Simple Twice-a-Day Steps
Ten minutes is all it takes each morning and evening to care for facial skin.

Cleansing: Cleansing not only removes surface grime, make-up and impurities, it also stimulates your skin and

preps it for topical nourishment. For the face and neck, it's a must-do each morning and night. Choose a non-

soap cleanser appropriate for your skin type, or a tridoshic formulation balanced to work on all skin types.

If you have dry Vata skin (space or air predominant skin), choose a rich, nourishing cleanser that won't strip

the natural oils from the skin, with ingredients like oatmeal, almond meal and cream. If you have sensitive fire

predominant skin, choose a gentle herbal cleanser that will purify without irritating the skin.

Sandalwood in fine oatmeal with a little cooling milk and rose water makes a gentle Pitta-pacifying cleanser. For

oily earth or water predominant skin, a stimulating product that contains oil-balancing herbs such as lavender,

lemon, neem and tulsi helps cleanse and clarify.

Prepare your cleanser if you are starting with a dry mix. Then splash your face with lukewarm water to open

the pores. Never use hot water on your skin; it will cause your skin to literally wilt. Using your fingertips or a

soft washcloth, gently apply the cleanser to your face and neck in smooth upward strokes. The skin surface

should get stimulated without being pulled or stretched. Rinse off with warm water, and finish with a final

splash of cool water. If you wear make-up, two cleansings of the face at night may be appropriate to make sure

all of it is cleansed off.

Toning: Toning is an important step in the daily skincare routine because it removes any lingering impurities or

greasy residue and helps balance the pH of the skin. It closes the pores and stimulates circulation, helping to

prepare the skin to absorb nutrition from the moisturizer that follows. Choose a toner appropriate for your

skin type, and look for toners without alcohol, colors or artificial fragrance. Rose, sandalwood and cucumber

would be good choices for Vata, Pitta and Kapha skin respectively.

If your toner is a spritzer, close your eyes and gently mist on face and neck. Dab any excess gently with a ball

of cotton. Alternatively, apply the toner to the face and neck with a ball of cotton, using smooth, gentle

upward strokes.

Moisturizing: All types of skin need a moisturizer. Moisturizers seal in surface moisture and help keep skin

soft and supple. If enriched with skin-friendly herbs and essential oils, moisturizers also nourish the skin and

enhance skin immunity. Natural ayurvedic moisturizers contain herbal extracts and essential oils in an oil base-

richer oils for dry skin and light oils for oily skin. Gotu kola, Shatavari, Turmeric, Sandalwood, Brahmi, Amalaki,

Tulsi and Neem are examples of nourishing, ojas-building herbs that are considered skin rasayanas in ayurveda.
Apply moisturizer immediately after the toner, while your skin is still slightly damp. If using a facial oil, all you

need are 3-4 drops. Gently massage the moisturizer into facial skin with smooth upward strokes. For extra-dry

areas, use a little additional moisturizer.

Additional care, once or twice a week

Exfoliation once a week for Kapha skin and once every other week for Vata and Pitta skin adds that extra glow.

Facial Mask : All types of skin benefit from periodic deep-down exfoliating treatment; if you have really oily

skin, you may want to exfoliate at least once a week. At its most basic, a facial mask is a little oatmeal or

chickpea flour mixed with water and a touch of honey. You can add almond meal, rosewater and a couple of

drops of wheat germ oil for dry skin, almond meal and pure aloe vera juice for sensitive skin and Bentonite clay,

lemon peel and tulsi or neem powder for oily skin. You can also enrich the mask with pure essential oils suitable

for your skin type. Exfoliation removes dead skin cells, embedded dirt and toxins, and stimulates the skin,

making it receptive to the nutrient-rich facial moisturizer that should follow.

Wash your face with lukewarm water. Apply the mask with smooth upward strokes with your fingertips or a

ball of cotton. Wait a few minutes in a relaxed position while the mask dries. Rinse off with plenty of warm

water and follow with a moisturizer appropriate for your skin type.

Detoxification

Detoxification is a method of healing the body, an ancient medicinal art from India called Ayurveda has been

prescribing detoxification and internal cleansing for thousands of years. They especially recommend it during

the spring time, so your body can take part in the rebirth of nature.

Ayurshine was built with the primary goal of offering a safe and enjoyable detoxification program of

unquestionable and unparalleled result. We are very proud to offer you these detoxification and rejuvenation

programs, sharing with you the oldest known medical system in the world, with pure, uncompromised value.
Ayurveda believes in maintaining balance within the body. To achieve balance, one should not create a new

imbalance in order to fix it. Therefore, internal cleansing should be quick so that impurities embedded in the

tissues can be released without compromising or disturbing the quality and the functions of other organs and

tissues in other parts of the body. Internal cleansing can be achieved alone or with a supervisor to guide you as

you go through the fast. Performing a self-detox is not highly recommended, because the nature of the toxins

in your body may be harder to release than you can imagine. Once the toxins manifest themselves in the form

of fevers and body pain, you may need additional support to get through the cleansing process.

Toxins from chemicals in our food, our polluted environments, occasional drinking and smoking, stress and

chemical medication all accumulate in our body over a period of time. These toxins are the cause of myriad

diseases, and the effects of which are unfortunately anything but subtle. Western medicine has great

difficulty removing fat soluble toxins safely and effectively from our body. Through the Ayurvedic Medical

Science native to the Indian sub-continent, detoxification and rejuvenation is achieved with 'Panchakarma',

which will not only facilitate the removal of these deep seated toxins, but do so with no negative side effects.

Removing these toxins and allowing your body to rejuvenate through Panchakarma requires a minimum of 7

nights. At Ayurshine, we appreciate that no matter how much we may want to free ourselves of all of these

toxins, we do not immediately have the time to do so

Detoxification through PanchaKarma is the core focus of Ayurshine. As our world becomes more chemically

enhanced and genetically modified with increasing levels of air pollution, we push ourselves harder and faster

through this technological revolution. We only stop briefly to take a pill when our bodies try to slow us down.

Our detoxification programs involve an initial at home cleanse and preparation, followed by Purvakarma,

Swedana and Panchakarma at the retreat.Panchakarma is the elemental purification and healing modality of the

Ayurvedic Medical Science, and offers balancing rejuvenation for mind, body, and consciousness.
