Based on the description you have given, what do you think is SEX and what is GENDER?
Gender refers to the physical appearance of the men and women including their
characteristics, roles and behaviors that are socially constructive. Sex refers to the physical
differences between people who are male and female including their reproductive organ
which cannot be changed.
In your culture, what are considered acceptable for men and women, boys or girls?
In our culture as a Muslim, it is acceptable for men to have a multiple wives as long as
he can treat them equally and give them a good life. For women, wearing a hijab is
considered as one of the acceptable in our traditions. According to the Encyclopedia of
Islam and the Muslim World, modesty applies to both men’s and women’s “look, walk,
clothes, and genitalia.” The Qur’an urges Muslim women and men to dress modestly.
What are the biological differences that make a person male or female?
The biological differences that makes a person male or female is their reproductive
organ which male have tested and produce sperm, while female have ovaries and
produce eggs.

Task 2. Identify a public space where you or a friend may have experienced being
harassed.
The following are the public spaces that I may havee xperienced being harassed.
•Streets- In passing streets, we should avoid to passed in a dark area. There are
strangers that would feel us un comfortable and may harassed us. Wolf whistling is
the common harassment that I may experienced in this place.
•Bars- This place is filled with many people. We can’t deny the fact that drunk
people in bars may possible caused us harassed by doing things that is not
appropriate, just like touching without our consent. I didn’t experienced to enter a
bar, but I know that many girls experienced being harassed in this kind
of place. So, better avoid to go in this kind of place.
•RA 7877: Anti-Sexual Harassment Act of 1995. According to RA7877, the employer or the
leader of a work-related, educational, or training setting or institution shall establish processes for the
resolution, settlement, o prosecution of sexual harassment acts. The employer is required to form
acommittee on decorumand sexualnharassment investigations. This law can help me to prevent and law
fully punished any unwelcome sexual advances, requests for sexual favors, and other verbal or physical
conduct of a sexual nature constitute sexual harassment.
•RA6949: Anti-Violence against Women&Their Children Act o f2004.
RA 9262, also known as An Act Defining Violence Against Women and Their Children, Providing
Protective Measures for Victims, Prescribing Penalties, and for other Purposes, recognizes the need to
protect the family and its members, particularly women and children, from violence and threats to their
personal safety and security.This law also recognizes the need to safeguard the family and its members,
especially women and children, from abuse and threats to their personal safety and security under thisl
aw.Its concern swere to value the dignity of every individual, enhance the development of human
resources, guarantee respect for human rights, and uphold the dignity o fworkers, employees,
applicants for employment, students or those undergoing training, instruction or education.
