LEARNING DELIVERY MODALITIES COURSE 2 (LDM2) FOR TEACHERS

REFLECTIONS

Module 1: Learning Delivery Modalities Course 2 (LDM2) for Teachers

Reflection:

Today as we are facing the new normal because of the pandemic, there are lots of
modification that shocked everybody even in the educational system. One of them is the
learning delivery modalities. In the previous years, face to face classroom instruction is
the usual way of imparting knowledge to the learners. But, with our current situation, it
is not applicable that is why the Department of Education sought ways to pursue
education through distance learning. So, for us – teachers, to learn more about these
learning modalities the DepEd Division of Lipa City conducted LAC sessions about this
topic.

This module is such a great help for us to understand what we need to do to adapt
with the different changes of sharing knowledge with the students to still enhance their
talents, skills and competencies even they are in the comfort of their homes. Apart from
that, this module also enables us to learn to use the different learning modalities
effectively especially that we are in the new normal.

After finishing this course, we are now prepared and confident in executing lessons
in the new LDM.

Module 2: Most Essential Learning Competencies

Reflection:

The fundamental concern in terms of curriculum standards that need to be

addressed to ensure learning continuity is the congested curriculum. It is for the reason
that it is perceived to be one of the hindering factors on the performance of Filipino
learners because they cannot achieve mastery of the lessons for they have so much topics
to study and learn. To address this challenge, DepEd distributed the Most Essential
Learning Competencies (MELC). The released of the MELC is not just a response to
addressing the challenges of the current pandemic but is also part of the Department of
Education long-term response to call of SDG4 to develop resilient education system, most
especially during emergencies. MELC also intended to assist schools in navigating the

limited number of school days as they employ multiple delivery schemes by providing
ample instructional space.

This module about MELC taught us how we can accommodate the varying contexts
of learners, teachers, learning environment and support structures considering both the
content and the performance standards. Through this learning, we can enable to teach
the students better on how to learn the concepts and skills through meaningful activities
and scenarios relatable to them and within the context of their own environment.

Module 3A: Designing Instruction in the Different Learning Delivery Modalities

Reflection:

According to module 3a, the different learning modalities are the following: first is
the face-to-face learning where the teacher and learners are physically in one venue.
There are opportunities for active engagement, immediate feedback, and socio-emotional
development of learners. The second one is the distance learning where the learner is
given materials or access to resources, and they undertake self-directed study at home or
in another venue. Third is blended learning – a combination of the features of F2F
learning and distance learning. Lastly, the homeschooling, it is the alternative delivery
mode that provides learners with access to formal education while staying in an out-of-
school environment with parents, guardians, or tutors as authorized facilitators instead of
classroom teachers.

Based on what I have learned in this module, I realized that the best modality for
our learner is this current situation is the Distance Learning. It is because it is the safest
way to impart knowledge without risking the lives of both teachers and the learners.

Module 3B: Designing Lessons and Assessments in the Different LDMs

Reflection:

Module 3B is all about lesson designing or lesson planning. According to what we

have read, it is the process of determining what learning opportunities students in school
will have by planning the content of instruction, selecting teaching materials, designing
the learning activities and grouping methods, and deciding on the pacing and allocation of

instructional time. The three (3) elements or components of well-designed lessons are the
following: Clearly articulated lesson objectives, well-selected and logically sequenced
presentation of learning resources and activities to help learners meet the objectives, and
appropriate and timely assessment activities that provide relevant information and
feedback for both teachers and learners.

We learned that it is important to have a lesson designing because time is

maximized for instruction and learning, lessons are responsive to learners needs, teachers
set learning targets for learners, teachers carry out a lesson successfully, teachers master
their learning area content, teachers become more reflective about their teaching, and
learners successfully reach the set of learning goals.

Module 4: Planning for Continuing Professional Development and LAC Planning

Reflection:

As we head out of this pandemic, we have a chance to do something extraordinary. Like in

education, Learning should never stop. Most people associate this word to the students
itself, but this should also be applicable to teachers as well. We know, as educators, we
are responsible for our professional growth. This LAC sessions had helped me evaluate my
professional development. I had listed all my goals at the same time what will motivate me
in attaining our personal development. There are several ways to gain knowledge, some of
these are LAC sessions and attending trainings NEAP-Recognized Programs.

Continuous learning is essential in becoming an effective educator. It is important to

enhance potential and capabilities through trainings.
