2.1 Abstract

• Purpose of Experiment: Recognize resistance of a given resistor by its color bands and comparing it
with the measured value.
• Observation: We observed how much the experimental value deviated from the theoretical value.
• Major Points of Resources: We used resistor colour code chart given in the appendix to compute the
theoretical values of resistance and the multi-meter to get the measured value.
• Key Results: We concluded that the experimental value is usually less than the theoretical value.

2.2 Equipment

• Multiple Color-Coded Resistors

• Digital Multi-meter (UT33B+)

2.3 Procedure (As prescribed in the manual) (Observations are attached with the report)

2.4 Discussion

Result Analysis:
• The experimental values are usually less than theoretical value.
Potential Causes of Error:

• The received deviations can be due to faulty apparatus, tolerance of resistor or user error.
Specific Cause of Error:
• Our conclusion is that most of them are due to the tolerance of the resistor.
Role of Theory:
• The results went successfully hand in hand with the theory. The theory explained the results well. The
measured resistances were always within the tolerance values.
Potential Solution of Error:

• We can minimize by controlling the environment in which we measure our resistor.

Achievement of Objective:
• The objective was achieved since all the experimental values fall within their respective tolerance
ranges.

2.5 Conclusion
Through this experiment, we come to determine the theoretical as well as the actual vales of resistors by
using Digital Multimeter. Understanding of color coding. Calculate the marked deviations in these values.
