NARRATIVE REPORT
HUMSS CLUB
SY 2019-2020
I. INTRODUCTION/RATIONALE
The Senior High School offers different strands to the students, preparing them
for their college journey soon. One of those is the Humanities and Social Sciences
(HUMSS). This strand employs studies that discuss mostly humans, their nature, and
their interaction with each other and the environment.
The Holy Cross of Agdao, a private Catholic secondary school located beside the
San Antonio de Padua Parish, offers Senior High School as part of their high-quality
standard of education. They included HUMSS as one of their strands to compensate for
the needs of the student to competently pursue their dream profession as being a service
provider to the public.
As Humanities and Social Sciences students believe that unity between people
enriches knowledge and camaraderie, they have formed the HUMSS Club. This club
further extends the possibilities a HUMSS student could explore for they could discover
different knowledge from their co-HUMSS student and they could be immersed from
different activities that could enrich their humanistic mind and heart.
As it had the first club meeting last June 14, 2019, the HUMSS Club discussed its
agendas: Election of Officers, Membership, Activity Plans, and Policies. After the
officers were elected, the meeting immediately proceeded to the yearly activities of the
club. Team-Building, Club Shirt, and Outreach Program were discussed during that time.
Its second club meeting commenced last July 9, 2019. The President at that time
discussed the Club Polo Shirt Printing. There were plans like the color of the shirt was
maroon, names and strand logos on the right sleeve, school logos on the backside, etc.
The third club meeting last July 26, 2019 was a bright morning for the
Humanistas. The club moderator introduced the HUMSS strand to its officers and
members. The moderator emphasized that Humanities and Social Sciences is an academic
track that is part of the K to 12 Curriculum for skills development. HUMSS is concerned
with human relationships, which makes this strand people-centered. The club moderator
added that HUMSS people are effective communicators and mediators, confidently
interacts with different people.
The fourth and last meeting of the HUMSS Club happened last August 7, 2019. It
mainly discussed Lakbay-Aral activity. In line with the annual Kadayawan Festival
celebration, the activity's objectives were to discover the purpose of being human and to
immerse people into the native products of Davao City. Interview with native tribes,
buying of native products, fellowships snacks, and bonding games were also involved in
the planned.
Last September 26, 2019, the Humanistas also had their Film Viewing Activity.
The film was entitled "Annabelle Comes Home". It was all about a horrible doll named
Annabelle which were believed by the paranormal investigators to be cursed, therefore
locking it in the artifacts room to avoid wreaking havoc. Driven out of curiosity, it was
opened by young people which that event started the story plot. A lesson was taken by
the HUMSS students from it: "Faith conquers all."
The Humanities and Social Science club were unfortunate this year. Numerous
plans were not brought into reality. One of those was the Club Shirt Printing, which was
prohibited by the school administrators, leaving the club with no club shirt for this school
year. It was for the reason that it adds up with the expenses of the students.
Planned activities like the Team-Building and the Lakbay-Aral were not also been
carried out by the club. It was for the reason that a lot of academic works and co-
curricular activities were needed to be done by the students first, leaving those activities
with no time to be made.
Succeeding meetings were not also been made. Its members found no time to
cater to the club anymore for there were a lot of performance tasks and projects to be
made, as well as practices for co-curricular activities. The HUMSS Club was inactive for
this school year.
IV. RECOMMENDATION
The club came up with a thought that much careful planning should be made for
the next year's activities. Whatever the club will be planning to soon, those should be
strongly enforced to avoid those becoming null and void.
Club Shirt Printing should be raised once again by the moderator to be allowed
once again. Shirts emphasizes the identity of the Humanistas. It shows the beauty and
concept of becoming a HUMSS student towards the public creatively.
As for how the HUMSS club wants its group to flourish, they should plan and act
wisely and effectively. Learning from the past problems and mistakes, the present
officers and members wish for the club to be successful and more active in the years to
come.
