Science
Telescope
Telescopes are instruments that are used to
view and magnify distant objects. The
invention of the telescope marked the
development of modern science, especially
in the study of astronomy. It greatly helped
astronomers observe objects in the
outerspace.
Optical telescope
Optical telescope uses lenses and mirrors
to magnify distant objects, optical
telescopes is also commonly used by
scientists.
There are three basic types of optical
lenses:
- Refractors
- Reflectors
- Catadioptric Telescopes
Refractor Telescope
Refractor telescopes uses a glass lens
as it’s objective. The glass lens is at the
front of the telescope and light is bent
as it passes through the lens.
Reflector Telescope
Reflector telescopes uses a mirror as it’s
objective. The mirror is close to the rear of
the telescope and light is bounced off as it
strikes the mirror.
Catadioptric Telescope
Catadioptric telescopes uses mirror
combined with lenses to form an
image.
