Question Bank- AY: 2020-21

1. A square pyramid of base side 35 mm and axis length 60 mm is resting on HP on base with
its axis parallel to VP. It is cut by a plane inclined at 45 0 to VP and perpendicular to HP and
is bisecting the axis. Draw its top view, sectional front view and true shape of section.
2. A hexagonal prism of base side 25 mm and axis length 60 mm is resting on HP on one of its
base corners, with its axis parallel to VP. It is cut by a plane inclined 65 0 to HP and
perpendicular to VP and is passing through the top most corner of the prism. Draw the front
view, sectional top view and true shape of section.
3. A pentagonal pyramid, base 30 mm side and axis 75 mm long has its base horizontal and an
edge of the base parallel to the V.P it is cut by a section plane, perpendicular to the V.P
inclined at 600 to the H.P and bisecting the axis.
4. A right circular cone of 50 mm base diameter and of altitude 60 mm is lying on one of the
generator on HP, such that the axis of the cone is parallel to VP it is cut by a section plane
parallel to HP and perpendicular to VP and 30 mm above HP. Show the sectional plan and
elevation of the solid.
5. A cone of base diameter 50 mm and axis length 60 mm is resting on HP on its base. It is cut
by a plane inclined at 400 to VP and perpendicular to HP that cuts the cone at distance 10
mm from the axis and in front of it. Draw its top view, sectional front view and true shape
of section.
6. A square pyramid of base side 30 mm and axis length 60 mm is resting on HP on its base
with a side is inclined at 300 to VP. It is cut by a plane perpendicular to both HP and VP and
is 10 mm away from the axis. Draw its top view, front view and sectional side view.
7. A cone of base diameter 50 mm and axis length 75 mm in resting on HP on its base is cut by
a plane inclined at 450 to HP and perpendicular to VP and is bisecting the axis. Draw the
front view and sectional top view and true shape of this section.
8. A pentagonal prism of base side 30 mm and axis length 60 mm is resting on HP on one of
its rectangular faces, with its axis is perpendicular to VP. It is cut by a plane inclined at 40 0
to VP and perpendicular to HP and passing through a point 25 mm from rear base of the
prism. Draw its top view, sectional front view and true shape of section.
9. A pentagonal pyramid, edge of base 25 mm long and height 50 mm is resting on the H.P on
a corner of its base. It is cut by a section plane making an angle of 30 0 with the V.P
perpendicular to the H.P and passing through a point at a distance of 6 mm from its axis.
Draw its sectional front view and true shape of the section.
10. A pentagonal pyramid of base side 40 mm and axis length 75 mm is resting on HP on its
base with one of its base side parallel to VP. It is cut by a plane inclined at 35 degree to HP
and perpendicular to VP and bisecting the axis. Draw its front view, sectional top view and
true shape of section.
11. A cylinder of base diameter 50 mm and height 60 mm rests on its base on H.P. It is cut by a
plane perpendicular V.P and inclined at 450 to H.P. The cutting plane meets the axis at a
distance 15 mm from top end. Draw the section plan and true shape of the section.
12. A cone of base 50 mm diameters and 65 mm height is resting on its base on the HP. It is cut
by a section plane such that the true shape is a parabola of base 35 mm. Draw the sectional
top view and also find the true shape.
