2. What do you think is the reason why the Good Samaritan helped the stranger despite their
social differences?
Because he himself is a Good Samaritan. He knows what is right and what is wrong
because he is a follower of Christ. The Good Samaritan ignored the social
differences and the stigma of helping another person from another race. The Good
Samaritan knew what was good and did it, disregarding the opinion of the society for
such action.
3. If you are the Samaritan, would you do the same? Justify your answer.
Yes, I will do what the Samaritan did because God says that we should learn to help
others or our neighbors. God also says that we should love others as much as we
love ourselves and God despite of color, race, and status in life. As a person with a
decent heart, I'm going to help people who are in need and I do what I can. What if I
am in their situation?
WHAT’S IN
MY GOOD SAMARITAN EXPERIENCE
One of my experiences just like the ones in the parable happened to me when I was 10
years old. My dad works at Ultimart San Pablo where this experience happened. It happens on
funhouse where I and my dad are always playing. One time, while I was playing there, I saw a
child crying and seemed to be alone. As an older child, I approached and talked to her. She said
that she was separated from her parents. When I found out it, I immediately called my dad and we
asked his boss for help. Using a megaphone, my dad’s boss reports to the public that there was a
child missing in the funhouse. As a result, the child and her parents met again. This is one of the
best thing that happened in my life that I would be proud of, because despite of my age, even I
was young, I already know the value of helping.

2. Give some personal experiences when you feel you are treated as a subject. How do you
feel when you are treated in that way? Is it lawful to do the same to others? Why?
One of my personal experiences when I feel that I am treated as a subject is
when my co-students in elementary used me as an example of a fat girl. I feel so
embarrassed and insecure about myself because they said it in front of others. Yes, I
know that I’m fat before but the shame and embarrassment I feel that moment are
still imprinted on my mind as of now.
This situation made me think of the feelings other may feel if they are in my
situation. So starting on that moment, I realized that we should always treat people
with our very best because each person have their own insecurities too. Start to
reflect and think of the word you will say about a person because it may trigger their
insecurities and they may feel bad about themselves.
3. What do you think is the reason why people treat others as objects?
I think the reason when people treated a person as objects, is when that
person may have more power than them. This situation lead me to remember the
movie I watched when I was in Junior High School. There was this boy who is the
campus gangster and bully because he have the power and friends around him.
Even on his friends, he treats them badly as if he was the boss of the school. But
when all the students joined forces and decided to fight the bully back, the bully got
scared and ran.
I realized that a person will you treat you as object when they have the power
in them and if they know that you are too kind and scared of them. Start to make
actions and don’t be afraid if you know that you are on the right side. You can share
your experiences on your parents or teachers so they will take actions about that.
4. What do you have in mind when you treat others as subjects?
There are many definition when you treat others as subjects. It can be good but
mostly it can be bad.
When you treat others as subjects, it means that there are oblige to follow specific rules
or instructions by you. People treated as subject needs to obey rules executed by you.
They are under your authority. Usually, they can't defend themselves and since they are
your subject, they usually don't have the capability to express their feelings. All they do
is follow you, do whatever you told them to do.
This is mostly not a good thing and definitely not ethical because you are violating a
person's will to do or say what they want. But if you're treating a person as a subject
because of a study or with the consent of the other person, that can be okay.
Remember to show them the gratitude and respect they deserve!
5. Do you think that we can make a better world if we prioritize intersubjective relationships over
economic progress? Defend your answer.
Yes, we can make a better world if we prioritize intersubjective relationships over
economic progress. But that doesn’t mean that economic progress is not important.
Intersubjective relationship means sharing ideas between each other. It refers more
to the psychological relationship between people. If we prioritize intersubjective
relationship with each other, it can mean an effective communication with each other. In
this way, we will have an understanding with each other's ideas and will come up with a
great result.
Having good intersubjective relationship with each other will greatly help on the
improvement of the relationship between different people. Having good relationships
will uplift each other's purpose and will be a great help in the progress of our everyday
life and this can lead to economic progress also!
WHAT I CAN DO
1. Instead of showing mercy, many people make fun of persons with disabilities.
They shouldn’t make fun of other people’s differences or disabilities. We are
all human and we all have feelings. Making fun and showing disrespect to them will
not make you superior and cool. We all know what is right to what is wrong. Treat
them how you want to be treated by others to.
2. Regarding rape issue, women are blamed because of the type of clothes they were.
Rape is rape no matter the defense of the accused. On the issue of women
wearing provocative and revealing clothes, many says that it’s all women’s fault but
it’s not true! There’s rape because there is a rapist. There are elderly, toddlers,
babies, and infants who are raped even though they’re not wearing revealing
clothes. Rape and other forms of sexual abuse are never on the clothes and never
the victim’s fault.
3. Many say that poor people are poor because of the type of clothes they were.
Almost every people based their opinions on the physical life of others. They
easily says that a person is poor if their clothes are not that pricey or not branded,
but it is not true. Branded clothes is just clothes also. The same comfort that
branded clothes brings are just like the ordinary clothes. Why we all get a branded
and expensive clothes than an ordinary clothes? Is it just for the trend? Start to think
and reflect that the type of clothes that a person wear is not connected on their
financial state or status in life.
4. Indigenous people have their own culture others do not understand but some people make
fun of them.
We live in a world where differences and variations among different cultures,
traditions and beliefs are present, and we can’t deny that discrimination doesn’t
exist. Those who are not part of the Indigenous Tribes don't know why there are
many cultures and traditions. This cause a tendency that they don’t understand how
influential culture is to those indigenous people. They make fun of them and mimic
their actions, which is disrespectful.
We should learn to respect each other's differences. Not because they are
different from what we are used to doesn't mean that they are not like us.
5. Nowadays, some people think that psychological problems are just excuses people do to
justify their weaknesses.
Nowadays, people are always going to observe us just in our physical
aspects. They observe our body, clothes, accessories etc. but they forgot to observe
our mental state too. I think it is the reason why people think that psychological
problems are just excuses to justify weaknesses. People are just looking on the
outside, they forgot to look inside. People don’t understand mental health problems
because they didn’t experience it themselves.

SONG ANALYSIS
SONG:
"Mga Kababayan Ko" - Francis Magalona
Lyrics:
ANALYSIS:
The song depicts the importance of intersubjectivity. By saying "Bilib ako sa kulay ko",
it enhances the harmony in Filipino society, despite of skin color, the size of the nose etc.,
we are all Filipino and we should be proud of it.
On the lyrics "Dapat nga ika'y matuwa sa napala ng iyong kapatid", is like what Martin
Buber said about respecting other specially your siblings and family.
The part when it says "Ibig kong ipabatid sa lahat na tayo'y
kapit-bisig" supports what Karol Wojtyla said about participation.
