• Computer graphics design combines skills in technology, business and


art, using computer-generated images and words to create unique
concepts and messages for publishing and advertising.

• Advertisement/Commercial posters are a common print promotional


technique used by small businesses.

• . A poster includes a visual design, images, colors and copy. It provides


a message intended to promote brand awareness or call attention to a
company event.

• The purpose of a poster is to communicate a message. It is a


powerful tool to inform, persuade, or promote.

Advertisement/Commercial Poster

1. Open GIMP, create a new layer and insert the background you want to use.

2. Create a new Layer for each of the objects you will include in your poster.
Import your image on the computer. Save the image as a file. Enhance,
resize, move image according to the layout or concept that you have in
mind.

3. Insert your texts. Use the Text and Type tools from your toolbar. Click on
the picture with the Type tool and select a box using the size of the area you
want to add text. Type the text in the box, then adjust the size of the text
box.

4. Save and print your finished poster.

Make Your Own Announcement Poster

1. Open GIMP, create a new layer, and insert the background you want to
use.

2. Create a new Layer for each of the objects you will include in your poster.
Import your image on the computer. Save the image as a file. Enhance,
resize and move image according to the layout or concept that you have
in mind.

3. Insert your texts. Use the Text and Type tools from your toolbar. Click
on the picture with the Type tool and select a box the size of the area
you want to add text. Type in the box, then adjust the size of the text box.

4. Save and print your finished poster.
