    Rejuvenation of Sewage Treatment Plant (Rajapur, Allahabad, U.P.) and


    Bioremediation of Municipal Sewage

    The sewage treatment plant (STP) at Rajapur,


    Allahabad India is designed is designed to treat 60
    MLD of sewage by using upflow anaerobic sludge
    blanket (UASB) reactor followed by oxidation pond
    and eventually the quiescent zone which further
    helps in removal of biological nutrients. The existing
    STP was not in proper function. So they had
    approached Bioxgreen to provide a suitable solution
    to the existing STP.

    The STP inflow was very high (90 to 100 MLD)


    than the recommended according to the designed
    (60 MLD). Due to this high sewage inflow, the
    UASB was disturbed and the entire organic load
    was on the aerated lagoon, which was not able to
    provide the necessary biological oxygen demand
    (BOD) reduction. The existing STP reduced the
    BOD of effluent up to the 35.5 mg/L, at against the
    expected discharged limit of < 20 mg/L.

    Bioxgreen provides turnkey solutions to meet the


    customer's needs. Bioremediation of effluents
    was carried out using special and very effective
    microbial consortium (BXGE 0201), developed by
    Bioxgreen. As Bioxgreen’s Bio-cultures are
    aerobic and facultative type, so the dosing of bio-
    culture was set up at the inlet of aerated lagoon.
    Organic compounds contributing to COD, BOD,
    colour and odour underwent the microbial
    degradation thereby reducing the BOD <20
    mg/L. Additionally the foul odour and foam of
    the wastewater were also removed after
    bioremediation.
