conditions that tend to upset the homeostatic balance. In medical language ‘stress’
is defined as a perturbation of the body’s homeostasis. According to the Oxford
Dictionary, stress is defined as “a state of affair involving demand on physical or
mental energy.” Stress can also be defined as “the body’s physiological response
to demands placed on it.” The demands or stress- producing agents are referred to
as stressors. In simple words, stress is a condition or circumstance (not always
adverse), which can disturb the normal physical and mental health of a person.

I as a student experience stress, which is a natural feeling, designed to help me cope in

challenging situations. In small amounts it can be good, because it pushes me to work hard and
do my best, such as during exams. I do cope up with stress by means of engaging myself in
hiking. Hiking is one of the best ways to get exercise. No matter what type of trail I find myself
on, hiking is a great whole-body workout—from head to toe and everything in between. The
warm sunshine on my face, the sound of the wind rushing through the trees overhead, and the
soft earthy feel of the trail under your boots. Not only are these experiences enjoyable to have,
but they’re good as I got to relaxed and re-energized with nature.
