A Detailed Lesson Plan in Mathematics 10 (Grade 10)
I. Objectives:
At the end of this session, the students are expected to;
a. Illustrate an arithmetic sequence;
b. Determine the nth term of a given arithmetic sequence;
c. Show appreciation in arithmetic sequence.
III. Procedure:
Teacher’s Activity Student’s Activity
1. Preliminary Activity
a. Prayer:
Gina, please lead the prayer. May I request everybody to please stand up
b. National Anthem: for the prayer?
c. Classroom Management:

Yes, Very Good! We will raise a hand if we want to answer,
What if you want to answer, Martha? ma'am.
Very good!
2. Developmental Activity:
a. Review: Applications of radical expressions.
Last week we have discussed about?
Very good!
b. Unlocking of difficulties: A sequence is a set of numbers written in
Can you give me the meaning of succession.
Sequence? A term is the number in a sequence.
Define term in a sequence:
3. Motivation:
Let me share you something, while I was
travelling across the Sahara Desert, I found a
treasure. Yes, you heard it right, a TREASURE.
I want to share you my treasure but I can’t open
it. If you can help me finish a task, we will be Yes, ma’am.
able to open the treasure box.
Do you want to help me, class? Alright. I
will show you a puzzle. It says here that we can
only open the treasure if we can fill in the
missing pieces. Yes, ma’am.
(the teacher will show a table)
Is that alright to you, class? Now, let’s
begin.
Puzzle:
Completed Table:

4 7 10
What do you observe on the number of The number of match sticks increases by 3
matchsticks? as we add another square.
Yes, ma’am.

Is the instruction clear to you, class? 4

Ok, we may now start.
Yes
In the arithmetic sequence 3, 7,11,15,19 . . . 16
What is the first term?
What is the common difference? No
What is the 25th term of the sequence? There is no common difference.
Is the sequence 15, 17, 19, 21 . . . consider an
arithmetic sequence? Yes or No?
If a1=1 and d=5, what is A4?
Is the sequence 4, 9, 16, 25, 36, … considered
an arithmetic sequence? Yes or no?
What is the common difference?
Well done!
Based on the outcomes of your work, it seems An Arithmetic Sequence is a sequence where
you learned a lot on our topic. every term after the first is obtained by
adding a constant called the common
7. Generalization: difference.
To sum up what we have tackled for today, who An= a1+ (n-1) d
wants to give me the definition of Arithmetic
Sequence? Yes? Splendid!
IV. Evaluation:
To test your understanding on our topic for today, get one-fourth sheet of paper and answer
the following.
1. In this arithmetic sequence, 35, 32, 29, 26, ... what is the 10th term?
a. 10 b. 9 c. 8 d. 7
2. In this arithmetic sequence, −3, −23, −43, −63, ... what is the 121st term?
a. 2403 b. -2403 c. 2400 d. -2400
4. Using the formula, which term of the arithmetic sequence is -18, given that a1=7 and a2=2?
a. 4th b. 5th c. 6th d. 7th
V. Assignment:
For your home delight, bring out your notes and copy what is on the board.
Directions: Solve the following arithmetic sequence. Find what is asked. Show your solutions.
1. −34, −64, −94, −124, ... Find a15
2. 30, 40, 50, 60, ... Find a10
3. −7, −9, −11, −13, ... Find a34
4. an = 65, d = 5 Find a1
5. a1 = −7, a8 = 35 Find d
