In that sense, Camilo has also made several revelations to the press. In that
sense, he recently appeared on the Spanish program "La resistencia", where he
confessed something surprising that his wife did after the birth of their baby.
On Tuesday, June 14, Camilo was one of the guests of the famous TV show "La
resistencia". The Colombian artist came to the Movistar + program with the
intention of promoting his new album and his tour entitled "De adentro pa fuera".
However, he also made some personal revelations.
During the conversation, Grison, the musician on the show, talked about the birth
of some women and was astonished because "people eat the placenta and stuff
like that". However, he did not expect the reaction of Camilo, who confessed that
Evaluna also consumed his daughter's placenta.
"My wife had it encapsulated and ate it (...) My wife gave birth at home and the
doula, who is the one who prepared everything, asked us what we wanted and
offered us the whole range of possibilities," said the singer. Undoubtedly, a fact
that amazed much of the audience in the studio and gave much to talk about.
Many people began to criticize Evaluna, but it is worth pointing out that Evaluna is
not the only artist who has consumed her baby's placenta after birth. Other
celebrities such as Alicia Silverstone or Jennifer Lopez have also done it at the
time. Kim Kardashian, for example, told how she had paid $250 to have the
placenta from her second pregnancy encapsulated in order to consume it as pills.
The reasons why mothers eat this organ are mainly based on the fact that
mammals feed on the placenta after giving birth, as a defense behavior against
predators. However, as it is not necessary for human beings, the defenders of this
practice also refer that it has several benefits for the mother's health, during the
post-partum process, breastfeeding and the supposed intake of iron.
Despite this trend, the truth is that there is no concrete scientific evidence
regarding the alleged benefits of placentophagy. An investigation by the American
Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology, for example, concluded that there was no
observable benefit.
