I. Frequently Asked Questions

Q: "I get an error while starting the game in Windows 8! How do I fix it?"

A: This problem should only happen with the "alterRev" client running in Windows
8.1 or newer. If you try to dismiss or accept the message, the game may close. You
should be able to still play the game using the "alterRev" client in Windows 8 if
you ignore the error message and move the window out of the way and try to continue
playing the game.

Q: "I get the following error:

WARNING #5C-DEV-IDGEN
DEBUG INFO:
Interface Software Loopback Interface 1 (type Loopback)
Interface Teredo Tunneling Pseudo- Interface (type Tunnel)

Can I fix this and how can I still play?"

A: This error can happen with the "alterIWnet" and "alterRev" clients if you have
disabled your ethernet adapter and internet adapter on your computer. These clients
do not need any of these adapters but you will recieve this error if you don't have
at least one of these installed or enabled. If you get this error, press the button
prompt "OK" or press "esc" on your keyboard. Then the game will attempt to load but
your screen will freeze. Press "esc" on your keyboard twice or alt-tab out of the
game. Then return to the game screen and you will see the remaining error messages.
The error messages were hidden behind the game screen which would cause the
temporary freeze. Press the button prompt "OK" on the remaining pop up windows. If
your game screen still remains black, alt-tab once more to refresh and then the
game should work and you can play.

Q: "Why is the map 'Favela' or 'Strike' crashing when I try to load it?"

A: This is only an issue with the bgamer Classic v1 client. Check the bgamer
website "bgamer.ohost.de" for an updated version of the bgIW4 Classic client. Or
check the RSE blog "rsebots.blogspot.com" for the latest version of the RSE
package. If no newer versions exist then you will have to wait until this issue is
fixed.

Q: "How do I start matchmaking?"

A: Matchmaking is no longer supported with this version of RSE. Visit the website
"rsebots.blogspot.com" to learn more.

Q: "How do I change my in-game name?"

A: You can set your name by modifying the "bgset.ini" file with the bgamer client.
Or you can set your name when you start "alterIWnetLauncher.exe" when using the
"alterIWnet" or "alterRev" client.

Q: "The process 'bgIW4Cmp.exe' or 'iw4mp.exe' gave me a crash error. What do I do?"

A: A crash error could happen due to a number of different circumstances. Make sure
you meet the system requirements to run the game and make sure you have NET
Framework, VCRedist, and DirectX installed. Try reinstalling the game and RSE as a
last resort.

Q: "Do I need internet to play RSE?"

A: No. RSE is designed to work completely offline. Status is saved locally on your
computer.

Q: "Where are my stats saved?"

A: Your stats are saved in the "players" folder that is created when you first
launch the game. You can find the "players" folder in the root directory for Call
of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.

Q: "Can I keep my progression if I update to a newer version of RSE?"

A: This depends on which client is provided with each version of RSE. The various
clients save progress differently so you will probably to restart your progress if
you change your client. If newer versions of the RSE package continue to use the
same client that you already have, then you should be able to carry over your
progress.

Q: "Can I transfer my progression from my online profile to the RSE client?"

A: No. Status cannot be transfered from an online profile because the method of
saving progression using the alternate clients is different from the official
method.

Q: "I keep dying! How do I make the bots easier?"

A: You can change the difficulty of the bots in private match using the bot menu
options before you spawn bots. To learn how to use the bot menu, read the
"Configuration" portion of the installation document.

Q: "How do I play RSE with friends?"

A: RSE is designed to work in LAN. You and your friends can play together. If you
are using a bgamer client, connecting players should change the IP address in
"bgset.ini" to the host computer's IP address. If you are using "alterIWnet" or
"alterRev" clients, edit the "alterIWnet.ini" file. The host will need the
"RSE_Bots_v##.iwd" in the "main" folder in order to spawn bots.
