History of Brgy Iriron
(SUMMARY)
From an area covered by big forests and mountains, the place was
transformed into an environmental with happy, industrious and God fearing
people, joining hand to create a wonderful place for them to live in. The efforts
they shared and hardships they encountered were not a failure. Their dream to
own an independent and peaceful community is now a reality. This is no bastion
against poverty.
The first settlers of this place were the Bisayan’s who migrated from the
Visayan Islands. They called this area as an Isidro, in the honor of their Patron
Saint, San Isidro Labrador. They were the first people who suffered a lot and
encountered different trials in the village. After so many events of staying in this
place they returned temporarily, to their native home land and they answered
that they came from ARA_RON means “Nothing”. The term became common
among the settlers until there were such a time that this was change into
IRIRON. Formerly part of Sablayan.
The entire Barrio of Iriron are composed of different sitios such as;
Bulangcog, Quintangan, Kiwkiw, Boac, Tuburan, Guiron, Nagapi, Barayong,
Bongbongan, Mulawin, Wawa, Progrianan, Kinarasyawan and Kadkad.
Today, the magnificent Iriron is still on the go, it has its own Barangay
Officials whose duties and responsibilities cannot be measured and compared to
anyone. The barangay Council of Iriron, Calintaan, Occidental, Mindoro is
spearheaded by the energetic and talented Barangay Captain, the Honorable
Merlita V. Ildefonso.
Today too, the Irironian’s will go sailing to look for more bounties and to
thank the Lord in Heaven for HIS continues support and blessings
