Day 1
Mushroom cultivation is a good source of food and livelihood specially during
this pandemic. Thus, the school conducted a two-day Training and Development
Workshop on Mushroom Cultivation on March 1 and 2, 2022.
“I Must Cultivate to Elevate” is an income generating project of Nagbacalan
Elementary used mushroom cultivation as a tool to address institutional and
community challenges. It is really beneficial to the school and its stakeholders as an
additional source of income for school projects, food security, and livelihood.
The program started with the Philippine National Anthem led by Mrs. Liwliwa
Bagasol followed by an opening prayer by Mrs. Janice Onza.
Mrs. Brendalyn D. Gapasin welcomed the participants and the resource
speaker and delivered her opening remarks.
Dr. Dennis C. Ramirez, the School Principal II, inspired the teachers and the
stakeholders present. He challenged the participants to finish the two-day training for
these were beneficial to them and also for the school. He reiterated that this income
generation project will give foods for the family and can be sold to augment family as
well as school income.
Mrs. Nilda V. Menor introduced the resource speaker Mr. George Alonzo,
School Principal I of Navotas Elementary School, Schools Division of Laoag City.
Mr. George Alonzo lectured on the importance of mushroom production
specially during this pandemic. He challenged the participants that it only involves a
minimal cost to start the project.
He showed how to prepare the substrates by mixing the rice haul, rice bran,
lime powder, brown sugar with the correct proportion. The teachers and the parents
were all excited to mixed the materials.
After the mixing, the plastic bags were filled of fermented substrates
materials and compress properly. Then they put pvc pipe neck, plug with cotton
balls, cover with clean plastic cap to minimize entry of water during steaming or
pasteurization.
The teachers and parents took a drum with water, placed a rack to hold the
fruiting bags and arranged them properly. Cover the drum fitly on top and steam
them in order to pasteurized.
After 6-8 hours of steaming and being sterilized, The fruiting bags were
removed from the drum and the substrates will be cooled.

Mr. George Alonzo explained that there must be proper handling of the fruiting
bags. The participants were fully clean and sterilized during the inoculating the bags.
Each bag was inoculated with the grain spawn in a clean and aseptic place, Slightly
shake the neck area of newly inoculated bags to be distributed evenly the grains in
the shoulder are of the bags.
He also inspected the room where the fruiting bags were placed. He reiterated
that the place was disinfected to avoid bacteria and virus that will affect the fruiting
bags. The teachers and the parents enjoyed arranging the fruiting bags in the dry,
and ventilated room.
Mr. Alonzo said that the incubation period is 30-45 days. Mycelium will fill the
bags in 20-30 days which mean the bags will be ready for fruit initiation.
After all the bags were arranged the participants returned to the school
quadrangle and had the awarding of certificates to all participants by Mrs. Melody
Buduan, incharged.
Mrs. Noralyn Bagasol gave her closing remarks and thanked the resource
speaker and all participants of the two-day training.
It was a very productive weekend to all participants!

According to Sir Dela Cruz, fruiting requires a temperature not more than 28
degrees celcius, ventilation, light and relative humidity (80-85%). He also added that
mushroom provide moisture by watering through spraying in a misty method twice a
day. Her also explained that the fruiting room must be dis-infect once a week. After
one month of fruiting, the fruiting bags will be cold-shocked to motivate the growth of
mycelia. He also advised that hardened part of the fruiting bag should be scraped to
removed dead mycelia so that more fruit will come out.
Enjoyment and excitement were seen on the faces of the participants while
Mr. Dela Cruz explaining about mushroom product development. What a very
productive and accomplishments of the participants of the orientation for they gained
knowledge and skills in mushroom production and development. The training ended
at 11:30 in the morning.

NARRATIVE REPORT
The training on Sales Strategy was held on July 15, 2022. The
program started with the singing of the Philippine National Anthem conducted
by Mrs. Nelia T. Bugarin, a Grade 1 teacher. It was followed by by a prayer
led by Mrs. Melody B. Buduan, a Grade 2 Teacher. Afterwhich, Mrs. Melanie
L. Buenaventura, the GPTA President, enthusiastically welcomed the guests
and the participants. Presentation of participants was done by Mrs. Delia A.
Clarin, a Grade 5 teacher. The Principal II, Dr. Dennis C. Ramirez, introduced
the resource speaker for the orientation, Mrs. Margie G. Eclarin, Entrepreneur
and owner of Taguipuro, Paoay Lake, Paoay, Ilocos Norte.
In her talked, she reiterated the essential selling strategies which are
script-based selling, needs-satisfaction selling, consultative selling and
strategic partnering. All participants enjoyed the training.
