    NOTIFICATION

    G.O. (P) No. 87/2022/Fin. Dated, Thiruvananthapuram, 3rd August, 2022

    In exercise of the powers conferred by sub- section (1) of section 2 of the Kerala Public
    Services Act, 1968 (19 of 1968), read with section 3 thereof, the Government of Kerala, hereby make
    the following rules further to amend the Kerala Service Rules, namely:—

    RULES
    1. Short title and commencement.—(1) These rules may be called the Kerala Service (First
    Amendment) Rules, 2022.

    (2) They shall be deemed to have come into force on the 5th day of November, 2020.
    2. Amendment of the Rules.—In Part I, of the Kerala Service Rules,—
    (i) In rule 24 A and in the Note thereunder, for the words "twenty years", occurring at
    both the places, the words "five years" shall be substituted;

    (ii) In Appendix XII A,-

    (a) in rule 6, for the figures and word "20 years", occurring at both the places, the
    words "five years" shall be substituted;
    (b) in rule 10, for the figures and word "20 years", the words "five years" shall be
    substituted;
    (iii) In Appendix XII C, in rule 6, for the figures and word "20 years", occurring at
    both the places, the words "five years" shall be substituted.

    Explanatory Note

    (This does not form part of the notification, but is intended to indicate its general purport.)

    As per G.O. (P) No. 152/2020/Fin dated 5 th November, 2020, read with Circular

    No. 83/2020/Fin dated 30th December, 2020 the maximum period of leave without allowance during
    the entire service of an officer, to take up employment abroad or within the country and to join spouse
    was limited to five years. In order to give statutory validity to the above said Government Order, the
    Government have decided to make suitable amendments in the Kerala Service Rules.

    This notification is intended to achieve the above object.
