The theory of Sister Letty G. Kuan stated that without positive acquisitions during childhood, the person
(patient) will be “in a pathological state” to delinquency. Now, this is the challenge that nurses will face. The role
of the nurse is to put back what they have missed during childhood and to fill this gap.
 As an educator and consultant
 As a mentor to nursing students and nurses pursuing higher education and leadership roles.
 Her mission is threefold:
1. To foster cooperation and membership of its alumni members
2. Selflessly sharing her nursing expertise by conducting seminars and retreats on neuro-psychological
therapeutic counseling to community sisters.
3. Encourage professional relationship among members, inspiration for a stronger organization
PREPARE ME theory by Carmencita Abaquin
 Person/Patient. Her theory is specific to patients in advanced stages of cancer. They are holistic being
with physical, psychological, social, religious, level of independence, and environmental aspects. Patients
who are terminally-ill or those with incurable diseases as with cancer must be approached in multifaceted
care to improve their quality of life.
 Environment. An aspect or dimension integrated to the cancer patient. Her quality of life can also be
assessed in this aspect thus it must be given consideration in the provision of care.
 Health. Quality of life is defined as a multifaceted construct that encompasses the individual’s capabilities
and abilities of enriching life when it can no longer be prolonged. This includes proper care and
maintaining integrity of the body, mind and spirit despite the limitations brought about by the present
condition. The quality of life is seen through the patient's many dimensions.
 Nursing. The goal of nursing care is the improvement of quality of life for advance stage cancer patients
despite their current situation. Her concept of providing holistic nursing care in addressing the
multidimensional problems that cancer patients face is summarized in the acronym PREPARE ME.

 Women abuse has been recognized as an increasing social problem affecting women of all ages, race,
nationality and socioeconomic status.
 The focus is about women abuse and how these women can be helped.
According to care complex of Agravante, caring personality rests on the possession of a care complex with in a
person as an energy source of caring. - The framework explains and predicts the continuous formation
of nursing leadership behavior in nursing faculty that will eventually affect their teaching function.
 CASAGRA TRANSFORMATIVE LEADERSHIP MODEL- as an effective means for

nursing faculty to become better teachers and servant leaders.
 Servant-leadership formula is an effective modality on enhancing nursing faculty’s servant-leadership
behaviors.
 Threefold elements of CASAGRA TRANSFORMATIVE LEADERSHIP MODEL:
1. Servant-leader spirituality
2. Self - mastery expressed in care
3. Special expertise in the nursing field

 To determine the effects of the “COMPOSURE” behavior of the advance nurse practitioner on the
wellness outcome of cardiac patients.
 Composure behaviors are sets of behaviors or nursing measures that the nurse demonstrates to selected
patients.

 An in depth knowledge and clinical expertise demonstrated in caring for patients.

 Also stands for consistency and congruency of words and deeds of the nurse.

 Anxiety – a mental state of fear or nervousness about what might happen
 Nurse’s Caring behavior that affect patient’s anxiety.
1. PRESENCE - person to person contact between the client and the nurses
2. CONCERN – development in the time through mutual trust (the nurse & the patient)
3. STIMULATION – nurse stimulation through words as the powerful resources of energy of person for
healing.
 Enhancing factors
1. One’s caring experience, beliefs and attitude
2. Feeling good about work
3. Learning caring in school
4. What patients tell about the nurse coping mechanism to problem encountered
5. Communication
