C1 . Safety Instructions
Beijing AGIE Charmilles (BAC) disclaims all responsibility if these rules are not followed.
1.2 Training
Only persons trained on machines and equipment of this type are authorized to use them.
1.3 Protections
All covers and protective shields must be kept in place when working with the equipment.
After an intervention, all protective devices must be put back in place before machining can take
place.
In the event of an accident, if the safety instructions have not been followed, BAC may
disclaim all responsibility.
It is therefore mandatory to avoid touching the wire, including that in the used wire container,
during machining operation.
• The upper guide unit is fitted with a splash plate and a splash curtain. Before machining the splash
curtain must be fitted well.
• If need be, install some splash guards and select appropriate flushing pressure to stop spray water.
• When arranging the system, the surrounding machine subassemblies and adjacent equipment
susceptible to spray water should be taken into consideration.
The loads and mechanical parts can act as transmitting antennas for electromagnetic waves. In most
countries it is the postal authorities that decide on the regulation which are different for:
• Industrial Zones
• Residential Areas
• Airfields And Military Areas
Disturbances in the main power supply network are largely eliminated by the filter included in the
system.
Take the following measures to prevent radiation at the work area and any coupling with the mains
network.
• The place of installation should be as far as possible from transmitters or receivers which are subject
to interference.
• If possible the machine should be away from the side of the work site which borders on the street or
residential areas.
• It should preferably be installed in the basement rather than above ground.
• It is better to install the machine in reinforced concrete buildings than in wooden ones.
1.7 Maintenance
Respect the safety warning signs (color labels), and consult the relevant chapter in the manual before
every maintenance operation.
Precautions must be taken when handling and packing electronic components and modules to protect
them from the destructive effects of electrostatic discharges.
Before access to the inside of the generator cabinet or the electrical units of the machine, it is
necessary to set the main switch in the “Off” position.
1.8 Modifications
Any modification made to the equipment without the knowledge and authorization of Beijing AGIE
Charmilles is the customer’s sole responsibility. In such cases, Beijing AGIE Charmilles disclaims
all responsibility.
2 Waste disposal
Waste resulting from the EDM metal machining process must not in any circumstances be thrown into
sewers, garbage dumps or other sites.
• Lubricating oil.
• Used filters.
• Miscellaneous wearing parts.
General recommendations
• Contact the competent local authorities to acquaint yourself with the regulatory instructions
concerning storage and elimination of waste.
• It should be noted that in most cases storage and elimination of waste implies sorting according to
the nature of the pollutants (plastics, metal, etc.).
• Consult the standards in force concerning heavy, non-recyclable materials.
In the event of an accident, if the safety instructions have not been followed, BAC may
disclaim all responsibility.
Caution: The information contained in this section on waste disposal is of a general nature. It
is absolutely necessary that users of erosion equipment conform to the current regulations in
their country for accident prevention, safety and industrial medicine, and harmful materials
concentrate disposal.
