    I. Rationale

    Filipino artists are considered as heroes because of their great contribution which shows patriotism in
    the country. On the other hand, they bring vast responsibilities toward the Philippine Arts wherein they
    distinguished the culture and traditions of the Filipinos. Moreover, this area covers about the different
    award-giving bodies as well as agencies in the Philippines who will identify the national artists.

    Hence, this encapsulates the importance of Filipino artist in our culture and country which the learners
    will be able to know and gain knowledge about their masterpiece or the “obra maestro” through different
    learning activities that gives them wide knowledge and effective skills to be part of many artists in the future.

    II. Topics Included in this Module:

    ❖ Filipino artists’ roles and their contribution to contemporary arts.

    A. Presentation

    The Order of National Artists (Orden ng mga Pambansang Alagad ng Sining) is the highest national
    recognition given to Filipino individuals who have made significant contributions to the development of
    Philippine arts; namely, Music, Dance, Theater, Visual Arts, Literature, Film, Broadcast Arts,
    and Architecture and Allied Arts. The order is jointly administered by the National Commission for Culture
    and the Arts (NCCA) and the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) and conferred by the President of
    the Philippines upon recommendation by both institutions.

    The awards are divided into the Following:

    A. Architecture I. Music

    B. Cinema J. Theater
    C. Visual Arts

    D. Literature

    E. Fashion Design

    F. Theater Design

    G. Dance

    H. Historical Literature

    IV. Learning Activities


    A. Instructions: How would you differentiate Contemporary Filipino Artists to Contemporary foreign artists?

    B. “Contemporary Filipino artists have a responsibility to create art that would enlighten the people of
    the current condition of the society”
    How would you use art to voice out inspiration to the people who are suffering from the pandemic and other
    depressive situation? What kind of art form would it be?
    C. Instructions: Give 5 national artists and provide their famous artworks. (15 points)
