Eye Contact Immediately flush with plenty of water. After initial flushing, remove any contact lenses and
continue flushing for at least 15 minutes. Get medical attention if irritation persists.

Skin Contact Wash skin with soap and water. Get medical attention if irritation develops and persists.

Inhalation Move to fresh air in case of accidental inhalation of vapors. Get medical attention
immediately if symptoms occur.

Ingestion Do NOT induce vomiting. Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person. Drink
plenty of water. Get medical attention if symptoms occur.

Protection of First-aiders Use personal protective equipment. Avoid contact with skin, eyes and clothing.

Most important symptoms/effects, acute and delayed

Most Important Symptoms/Effects No information available.

Indication of immediate medical attention and special treatment needed, if necessary

Notes to Physician Treat symptomatically.

5. FIRE-FIGHTING MEASURES
Suitable Extinguishing Media
Water spray.

Unsuitable Extinguishing Media Avoid use of CO2, dry chemicals, or foam.

Specific Hazards Arising from the Chemical

Ammonium nitrate is a strong oxidizing agent and will support combustion in the absence of oxygen. Take precautions against
oxidizers if pellets are released from packaging. Explosive decomposition may occur under fire conidtions, heat of decomposition
may cause closed containers to build up pressure and explode.

Hazardous Combustion Products Ammonia, Nitrogen oxides (NOx).

Explosion Data
Sensitivity to Mechanical Impact None.
Sensitivity to Static Discharge None.

Protective Equipment and Precautions for Firefighters

As in any fire, wear self-contained breathing apparatus pressure-demand, MSHA/NIOSH (approved or equivalent) and full
protective gear.

6. ACCIDENTAL RELEASE MEASURES

Personal precautions, protective equipment and emergency procedures

Personal Precautions Evacuate personnel to safe areas. Keep people away from and upwind of spill/leak. Use
personal protective equipment. Avoid contact with skin, eyes and clothing. Do not touch
damaged packages or spilled material.

Environmental Precautions

Environmental Precautions Prevent entry into waterways, sewers, basements or confined areas.

Methods and materials for containment and cleaning up

Methods for Containment For undamaged containers: Keep away from heat.
For damaged containers: Remove all combustible material. Cool with water spray. Be
aware that spilled material may contain unreacted ammonium nitrate. Treat material as
oxidizer.

Methods for Cleaning Up For undamaged containers: Pick up and transfer to properly labeled containers.
For damaged containers: Spilled material may be cold. Remove all sources of ignition. Use
non-combustible absorbent material for spilled liquid. Wear protective equipment. Do not
use combustible absorbent materials like sawdust. Use non-sparking tools and equipment.
Sweep up or shovel into appropriate containers for disposal.
