NARRATIVE REPORT
Camp Set-Up
The scouts arrived at Coliling National High School as early as 5:00 pm in the afternoon.
The Coliling National High BSP Coordinator Norman C Abalos together with the other scout
masters welcomes the delegates and guided them on setting up their camps.
After setting up their own camps, the student’s scouts prepared their own food, ate dinner
and take a bath in preparation for the opening program later at 8:00 in the evening.
Opening Program
The opening program of the BSP School Backyard Camping 2022 started at exactly 8
o’clock in the evening of the 18th of September 2022 with Brgy. Captain Engr. Romeo P. Cayabyab
and School PTA President Mrs. Luzviminda P. Manuel as our guest. The program started with the
singing of the National anthem followed by the invocation. Afterwards, Mam Nora G. Sandoval,
Head Teacher II formally welcomed the students scouts in their welcome address and Mam Marisa
B. Cano (Master Teacher I) stated the purpose of having an encampment.
Presentation of the Troops and Patrols was conducted by GSP Coordinator Mam Mely D.
Castro and BSP Coordinator Norman C. Abalos. After the presentation of the Troops and Patrols,
Rededication of Scout Oath and Law for BSP was headed by John Mark Poquiz, BSP Senior Patrol
Leader and Alessandra Frenchy Uhna F. Usita, GSP Senior Patrol Leader for GSP.
The last part of the program was the socialization. This aims to help the learner scout to be
acquainted with each other, Provide opportunity in developing and enhancing their latent
potentialities all for building productive fellowships among their peers.
After the warm up exercises, clean up drive was conducted in several areas of the camp to
ensure cleanliness at all times.
At 8:00 in the morning, an Orientation and Lecture about First Aid with Mrs. Luzviminda M.
Posadas as the Speaker, a nurse and a medtech. After the discussion, there was a question and
answer portion to clarify the queries of some learner- scouts. A Demonstration on Basic Bandaging
was also taught to learner-scouts to prepare them in case emergency happens.
Afterwards series of SKILL-O-RAMA competitions including knot tying, compass setting and
ladder making was conducted.
Knot tying consist of 8 hitches demonstrated by each patrol: timber hitch, clove hitch, square
knot, bowline, fisherman’s knot, highway man’s knot, taut line and sheepshank. This event is a
battle of speed (40%) and accuracy (60%) in making different hitches
Compass setting is also a battle of speed (20%) and accuracy (80%) of the the primary
directions (N, E, W, S), secondary direction (NE, NW, SE, SW) and tertiary directions (NNE, NNW,
SSE, SSW, WNW, WSW, ENE, ESE)
In the afternoon at exactly 1:00 PM, ladder making completion was held. This event needed
8 players. The fastest patrol to tie and make a ladder wins the game.
After the ladder making, at exactly 4:00 pm, the learner-scouts showcase their talents in
basic skills in cooking through cook fest. The goal of the cook fest is to be creative and resourceful
in making dishes using limited resources (egg and eggplant). Foods prepared were judged
according to the criteria set by the coordinators.
Campfire Ceremony
The playing of the song “Bayan Ko” marked the opening of the campfire ceremony. It was
facilitated by selected BSP learner-scouts of Coliling National High School. They portrayed a short
ceremony to light the fire. After the short portrayal, the Patrol Chief then said the Ode of the fire
which was also symbolic for the campfire.
The Campfire Ceremony was followed by Presentations of BSP Song and Yell per patrol
and Comedy Skit also per patrol. After all of the Patrols presented their song and yell and comedy
skit, the learner-scouts are oriented about the activities the following day and afterwards, instructed
to proceed to their quarters and prepare to rest.
The scouts gathered at 5:00 in the early morning for their warp up exercise through Zumba
dance presentations facilitated by the selected GSP learner scouts. Every Patrol showed their
participation and cooperation.
Last event was the Presentation of talents per patrol. Each patrol prepared a special number
to show that they are not just physically fit but they also have talents. Dancing, Singing and playing
instruments are some of them.
Closing program Started at exactly 10:00 in the morning right after the presentation of
talents, Highlights of the closing program was the announcement of winners in each event or
competitions. Announcement of overall champion was also done giving the winners cash prizes for
their efforts and hard work.
