The Sigma platform lift represents a new generation of platform stairlifts with proven technology.
The lift has been built according to the currently valid European safety rules.
As with any appliance that works under load and whose parts are in motion, the utmost
attention is required. Please read this user manual carefully. Make sure that every user of
the lift has read and understood the user manual before using the lift. You will find
instructions for operating the unit as well as safety instructions.
Use these instructions to benefit from Lehner Lifttechnik's many years of experience in the
operation of accessibility lifts. Proper care of the system on your part as well as scheduled
maintenance by a competent company will provide you with a reliable lift system over a long
period of time.
Lehner Lifttechnik GmbH and its authorised partner companies offer you a comprehensive
maintenance programme specifically for your installation. Take advantage of the manufacturer's
experience to achieve the highest possible efficiency for your lift system.
Lehner Lifttechnik GmbH expressly rejects any liability for breakdowns caused by disregard of these
instructions, non-compliance with the safety instructions or incorrect handling.

The person in charge must make sure on a weekly basis that there are no obviously dangerous
operational defects and that the tasks listed in the chapter "Duties of the platform lift operator" are
being carried out carefully.
Persons who do not meet these requirements, as well as children, may only be transported by
accompanying persons who also assume responsibility for the person being transported.
Outdoor use is possible in principle, however, in the case of outdoor installations that are exposed
to the weather, it may be necessary to clear parts of the installation of ice and snow in winter on a
case-by-case basis.
2.6 Decommissioning
When the unit is taken out of service for cleaning, maintenance or repair work, it must be protected
against unintentional movement. The key switches on the call stations must be switched off and the
keys removed.
▪ The platform lift is built to transport physically disabled persons with wheelchairs, as
well as persons standing on the platform.
▪ The platform lift is not intended for transporting goods.
▪ Always lock the platform lift so that it cannot be operated by unauthorised persons
(e.g. children playing).
▪ Adhere to the specified maximum loads and observe the available platform size.
▪ Observe instructions attached to the unit.
▪ The platform lift must be maintained and safety-checked at the prescribed intervals.
▪ Do not use the platform lift in case of fire! There could be a power failure during the
ride and the user would be trapped.
▪ Never exceed the permissible payload. The payload is indicated on the control panel
of the platform.
▪ Never bring your hands or loose clothing near the track or the grinding wall when
the lift is running.
▪ Do not open the swivel doors by force.
▪ Do not disable any safety device by making mechanical or electrical changes to the
installation. Without the written consent of Lehner Lifttechnik, all types of adjustments
and/or modifications to the system are prohibited
The platform lift may only be used if it is in technically perfect condition. Any malfunction that could
affect safety must be avoided or eliminated.
Report anything unusual to your service technician. Do not use the platform lift in case of
irregularities and unusual noises - call the service immediately. All instructions and directions from
experts, fitters and service personnel must be followed.
Before entering the up or down command, make sure that no one is endangered by the
movement of the system. Always look in the direction of travel!
The transport of goods is only permitted if sufficient stability is ensured so that they cannot slip or
fall over.
Also, keep the keys in a safe place and do not give them to unauthorised persons. Do not leave the
keys on the vehicle or at the call points when the lift is not in use.
The standard version is supplied with a manual swivel door on the platform as well as at the upper
landing position. Alternatively, the doors can also be delivered with an automatic door opener. The
lift can be operated from 2 radio remote controls in the stops and from the control on the platform.
The standard platform size is 1100 x 1400 mm.
Volume Under 60 dB
In some situations, it is necessary to make a special adjustment to the platform lift, which may change
the above specifications.
The platform must never be overloaded. If an overload is signalled, the loading must be
reduced immediately.
If the platform lift is not charged, the lift will emit a short beep every second after 5
seconds. Check that the lift or the charger is connected to the mains. Turn off the main
switch on the back of the platform (the lift will stop beeping) and check if there is a power
failure in your building or if the fuse or RCD in the stairlift power supply circuit is not in
order. Replace the fuse or switch on the RCD and then the main switch at the rear of the
platform. If the lift continues to beep, please call the service department, it could be that
the battery charger is faulty.
If the battery voltage for the travel drive of the lift becomes too low, a long beep sounds
every 2.5 seconds while the lift is travelling. If the charger is connected and the lift still
beeps during travel even after charging the batteries, the batteries are defective. The
batteries must now be replaced by the service department. If the platform lift continues
to operate despite weak batteries, the control is programmed so that the platform will
reach the lower landing in any case with the remaining battery voltage.
The status of the landing control can be read from the LED:
Green flashing Radio transmitter has been successfully registered with the receiver
Red flashing The battery of the radio transmitter is weak and should be replaced.
1. A key switch,
2. An overload indicator - only active in case of platform overload
3. The move command buttons for descent and ascent (0 and 1)
4. An alarm button
5. An emergency stop button
▪ The manual swing door can be opened when the stage has reached the landing.
▪ If the platform is already at the desired stop, pressing the travel command button on the
switched-on call station or on the platform control unlocks the door and the swing door can be
opened!
▪ The corresponding swing door remains unlocked after reaching the stop or after pressing the
corresponding drive command for the set time in which the door can be opened. If the locking
time has expired, the corresponding drive command button on the call station or on the platform
control must be pressed again.
▪ The opening time is adjustable.
▪ The doors must be closed after each journey.
▪ The automatic swing door opens when the platform has reached the stop. During opening, the
drive command button does not have to be pressed!
▪ If the platform is already at the desired stop, pressing the drive command button on the
switched-on call station or on the platform control automatically opens the door!
▪ The opening time is adjustable.
Always make visual contact with the door! After the opening time of the automatic swing
door has expired, it automatically turns back into the closed position!
Take care that no one is trapped, injured or otherwise put in danger when closing. Keep your hands
away from closing/opening doors.
Before moving the platform, make absolutely sure that nobody is endangered by the
movement of the platform and the swing doors. If a dangerous situation arises while the
platform is moving, stop the platform immediately by releasing the command button!
▪ Switch on the call station by inserting the key and turning it. The green lamp now lights up.
▪ Press the drive command button "Up" or "Down". The platform moves in the corresponding
direction as long as the button remains pressed. If you release the button during travel, the
platform stops immediately.
▪ The platform stops independently at the stops.
▪ Switch the call station off again when the platform has stopped in the stop by turning and
removing the key.
The lift can only be controlled from the stops when the swing doors are closed.
When the platform has arrived at the landing, the swing door can be opened manually.
When the door is opened, the control commands of the call stations are automatically cancelled so
that the platform cannot be operated by another person at the same time and safe travel on the
platform is ensured.
Close the swing door manually again; this enables steering from the platform.
When the platform has arrived at the landing, the swing door opens automatically. Please note that
you are not in the door's turning range while it is opening.
When the door is opened, the control commands of the call stations are automatically cancelled so
that the lift cannot be operated by another person at the same time and safe travel on the platform
is guaranteed.
The automatic swing door closes again automatically after an opening time set during installation.
Please ensure that you are not in the door's turning range when it is closing.
The wheelchair must be secured against rolling on the platform by a parking brake or, in
the case of electric wheelchairs, by equivalent measures (e.g. switching off)! Hold on to
the handrail!
The drive command is given by pressing the drive command button for the desired direction. Keep
the drive command button pressed until you reach the desired stop.
If you release the drive command button while driving, the vehicle stops immediately. If the vehicle
does not stop when the drive command button is released, an emergency stop (red button) has
been installed for additional safety. If this emergency stop is pressed, the system stops immediately.
The emergency stop button is unlocked again by pressing it again or turning it clockwise.
In the event of a malfunction, the following instructions must be worked through completely, point
by point. Do not skip any step!

door zone switch and/or limit Check whether the contact
switch is defective. bar/safety bottom is activated.
Passenger rescue may only be carried out by instructed persons. Two persons are
absolutely required!
There is an increased risk of crushing. All safety devices are deactivated. This means that
no safety elements such as the safety bottom or the contact bar are functioning. Before
operating the emergency lowering, make sure that no persons are endangered and no
objects can be trapped under the platform.
The platform does NOT stop by itself in the stop area. One must bring the platform into
the stop with utmost care and stop the movement by releasing the drive button. At the
lower stop, avoid the platform touching down on the ground; the platform must stop
beforehand! At the upper stop, the platform must not be moved above the level of the
upper stop!
The emergency drive works electrically via the batteries and is located on the frame of the upper
swing door. A small metal cover must be unscrewed to operate the emergency drive buttons.
First move the platform up a few centimetres and then to the nearest stop, i.e. either down
or up. This can deactivate an accidentally triggered safety gear and is necessary in this case
to avoid damaging the chain.

The emergency drive mode brings the platform to the desired stop, but cannot unlock the manual or
automatic swing doors. The swing doors must therefore be unlocked manually (see the following
chapter).
If the platform is not behind the door, no emergency unlocking of the upper door should
be carried out (DANGER OF FALLING!).
1. Before using the emergency release key, switch off the controls and remove the keys.
2. The upper swing door or the platform door can be unlocked manually with the emergency
release key.
3. Secure open shaft accesses so that no one can fall into the shaft.
4. After opening, the manual swing door should be locked again and activated.
5. After closing the door, check that the latch is in the closed position by shaking and pulling the
door.
6. Store the emergency release key again safely and securely against unauthorised use.

Door lock
First, the mechanical power transmission from the door drive motor to the swing door must be
removed. To do this, the cover of the door motor must be removed. Below the motor are the worm
screws for power transmission between the motor drive shaft and the door hinge. These worm
screws must be removed.
Now the automatic door opener is separate from the swing door. Now the door lock on the opposite
side can be opened in the same way as described for the manual door on the previous page.
1. Before using the emergency release key, switch off the controls and remove the keys.
2. Unlock and open the swing door at the appropriate stop for recovery.
3. If it is easier to free the person via the upper landing, use the emergency release key to unlock
the upper door and open it by hand. Caution: Danger of falling!
4. The wheelchair user can now be lifted carefully from the platform. Carry out the rescue from
the level from which the rescue is easiest and safest! Always do this with two people!
5. Close the swing door again and lock it.
6. The platform must now be closed for further use!
7. Call the service!
After a case of personal rescue, the platform lift may under no circumstances continue to
be used without being checked by the service company!
9.2 Cleaning
Clean the unit at regular intervals to remove dust and dirt. Please observe the following points:
▪ For safety reasons, the lift must always be taken out of operation before cleaning.
▪ Never use cleaning agents that require special ventilation.
▪ Do not use aggressive cleaning agents to clean plastic-coated or painted surfaces.
▪ Stainless steel surfaces should be treated with a commercially available cleaning agent (stainless
steel care spray, slightly greasing), do not use scouring powder.
▪ The push buttons must never be treated with cleaning sprays or the like (sticking of the buttons
is possible!). The floor should be wiped with a damp dust rag.
▪ Avoid wetness, especially with the operating elements (no splashing water).
▪ Further maintenance work may only be carried out by authorised partner companies.
Maintenance of your Sigma platform lift is absolutely necessary. The prescribed maintenance
intervals are as follows (even with low use):
10.1 Review
Please ask your installation company whether the platform lift has to be inspected by a lift
expert after installation. These inspections must be documented in an inspection book.
Carefully check the fastening of the bolted connections of the entire installation. Carefully check any
fastenings holding the parts of the installation together - tighten every nut, bolt and screw.
Check smooth ascent and descent along the entire length of the installation, as well as stopping at
the end stations several times. This is to be checked from the radio control stations as well as from
the platform and when fully loaded.
10.2.5 Chains
▪ Visual inspection of the chains for wear, elongation and corrosion
▪ Visual inspection of the chain attachments
▪ Check that the chains are evenly tensioned.
▪ Grounding of the drive tower
