• The Emperor’s New Underwear is an example of a fable. Which is a fictitious narrative or short fictional
story that has a moral or teaches a lesson that usually uses humanized animals, objects, or parts of
nature as main characters.

EXPOSITION- The emperor had been fooled by two charlatans with their magic clothes.
RISING ACTION- The Emperor was so upset because of the fool he had done and implemented a decree
to stop wearing clothes.
CLIMAX- The people were shocked and questioned the proclamation, or the rule implemented by the
Emperor
FALLING ACTION- The people decided to wear their regular clothing like normal people. The
Chamberlain talked to the emperor about the decision he made.
RESOLUTION- The Emperor was lightened up by his wrong doings and the decree was abolished. Later
on, his relationship with his people returned to normal.
ANALYSIS: The fable certainly portrays a certain situation that usually occurs within the environment.
MORAL LESSON:
“Don’t trust to much.”
“Even the powerful can make mistakes.”
“Leaders become great, not because of power, but their ability to empower others”
"Don't you understand?" groaned the emperor. "This mistake will destroy me! How
can I face the people again when I have been stripped of my imperial dignity? How can I
command their respect and allegiance when they have seen me parading myself in my
underwear? Only a fool walks around in his underwear. Now, even the lowest of my subjects
can sneer at me. At least they don't go around behaving like fools."
