Note: 1. Minimum margin needed between NPSHA and NPSHR for smooth pump operation is 3 ft.
2. BEP: Best Efficiency Point * Head in m = kPa / (9.81 x Sp. Gr.)
3. Goulds Model 3196 may not necessarily be suitable for Crude application, but the model used as an illustration
4. The performance curves available in attachment are for 50 Hz only, hence Example 2 selection (60 Hz) is approx. only.
5. Performance Curves for Ex 1 and Ex 2 and Example 3 as attached. ** Rated BKW = Q (m3/hr) x H (m) x Sp Gr / 367 / Eff.

Webinar 29 Aug 20 - Centrifugal Pumps Selection. –
(By use of the Goulds Pump Performance Curves attached which are available
for 50 Hz Electric supply.)
Q3: Please select suitable Electric Motor driven centrifugal
pump for following duties
Pump Capacity 46 m3/hr, Ps 4.85 bara, Pd 8.0 bara,
Diesel Oil Sp. Gr. 0.78, NPSHA 2.3 m, 60 Hz (USA)
To show Pump Model, RPM, Eff., Rated BKW, Driver
rating, NPSHR, Impeller Diameter, Shut Off Head; Specific
Speed at BEP, Suction Specific Speed at BEP, Nozzle
sizes and ratings, BKW @ End of Curve, etc.
A3: See next few slides for selection
(Please note Pump Model Goulds 3196 is taken for example only, it is not
necessarily a suitable model for the service)

Please note there may be some discrepancy in values while reading from these curves. The 9 of 11
tolerance permitted by API 610 on these parameters more than covers for that variation.
