LESSON PLAN

Type of lesson: vocabulary practice
Title: Just the other day
Aims:
-to develop pupils' listening , speaking, reading and speaking skills;
-to talk about feelings and personal qualities;
-to get pupils involved in acting out dialogues;
-to provide guidance in practising the vocabulary and grammar structures.
Objectives:
By the end of the lesson, pupils will be able to:
-use the new vocabulary in proper contexts;
-participate actively in a conversation;
-listen and read for specific information.
Materials: blackboard, textbook, CD, laptop, notebooks, worksheets.
Skills: listening, reading, speaking, writing.

Stages of the lesson

1. Warm-up
Aim: to create a relaxed and pleasant atmosphere.
Time: 3 minutes
Interaction: T-pupils, pupils-T
Procedure: T greets the pupils and asks about their mood. T checks attendance.

2. Lead-in
Aim: to consolidate the previous taught vocabulary
Time: 15 minutes
Interaction: T-pupils, pupils-T
Procedure: T asks pupils to open their books at page 18 and writes the title of the
lesson on the blackboard. T tells the pupils to look at the pictures on exercise 1 and
explains them that they are going to listen to a song. T explains them that they have to
listen and complete the task in their notebooks. After checking their answers, T tells
the pupils that they will listen to the song again and they have to sing along. T plays
the song again and this time asks the pupils to do the miming.

3. Presentation
Aims:
-to present and activate the vocabulary of the lesson;
-to stir interest
Time: 7 minutes
Interaction: T-pupils, pupils-T
Procedure: T asks pupils to look at the pictures in the textbook and tells them that they
are going to listen to the words. Pupils have to repeat the words after what they hear
them. T writes the words on the blackboard and translates them. Pupils write the
words in their notebooks.

4. Speaking
Aim: to improve pupils speaking skills
Time: 7 minutes
Interaction: T-pupils, pair work
Procedure: Exercise 2, page 18. T reads the instructions and explains the task. T asks
pupils to work in pairs: to ask and answer questions about feeling. T allows pupils
time to read the questions and explains the unknown words, then T chooses some
pairs to ask and answer.

5. Reading and writing


Aims:
-to develop the pupils reading and writing skills;
-to consolidate the new vocabulary
Time: 8 minutes
Interaction: T-pupils, individual work
Procedure: Exercise 3, page 19. T reads the instructions and asks the pupils to work
individually to complete the task. After finishing the task, T checks the answers. Then
plays the recording.

6. Practice
Aim: to consolidate the previous and new vocabulary
Time: 8 minutes
Interaction: T-pupils, pair work
Procedure: T hands out to the pupils some worksheets and asks them to work in pairs
in order to complete the rebus. T allows them enough time to solve it and goes around
the classroom monitoring the activity and helping the pupils, where necessary. T
checks the answers and then asks them to solve exercise 2 from their worksheets.

7. Ending the lesson


Aim: to provide further practice of the vocabulary
Time: 2 minutes
Interaction: T-pupils, pupils-T
Procedure: T announce the homework: exercise 4, page 19.
