Paper #3

Teachers Are Not Parents

Teachers shouldn't meddle in the personal affairs of the kids at such a

young age because they aren't their parents. Simply put, they have been doing

this through exposing kids to sexuality through the LGBTQ+ community as early

as early elementary school. This is one of the most popular and harmful ways

they have been doing this. Parents who don't know and don't want their children

exposed to explicit material so early in life are quite angry as a result of this.

There are many reasons why this is extremely dangerous and

unacceptable. One of which is extremely simple to understand and probably the

most important, being that at such an early age, kids have incredibly inquisitive

and imaginative brains. It is very effortless to figure out that exposing children

with these kinds of minds to sexuality that is limitless and based on feelings is

very dangerous. Children will

begin to think and explore in the same way that they do when they imagine

themselves to be animals, and I'm not saying that imagination is bad. However,

both of their theories are false. They want to be animals, but they will never

become one, and that is essentially the same as them feeling like their sexuality

is something that it originally wasn't. This enrages most parents, and the ones

that aren’t angry seem foolish to me. One example of this type of outrage

response is from ChalkBeat, titled "Am I not allowed to mention myself?" a

statement in the article states, "We don’t need to be teaching young children

about sex," as Alabama Gov. Kay Ivey said when she signed the state’s new law.

"We need to focus on what matters — core instruction like reading and math."

Many students, school staff, and LGBTQ rights advocates have vocally opposed

these curriculum restrictions, saying they could lead to incomplete and inaccurate

lessons."The argument they are making against the governor is very simple to

fix. The solution is that instead of having full discussions or encouraging students

to explore themselves, don’t show them all the uncapped combinations of

sexualities that are available, and if it seems important to mention the sexuality of

the person they are discussing, then they should really consider what they are

choosing to teach these kids.

There are multiple reliable sources that prove that this isn’t some outlier

situation that went viral. I recently interviewed my Aunt who has a son in second

grade and asked her about how she feels about the teachers influence on her

son. I started off with “Have you seen any things to be worried about in your

son's teacher's influence on him?” which she responded with “Everything’s good

except for the times he uses the things his teachers say to defend himself when I

tell him to do things.” “Can you give me an example?” She then told me the exact

situation I expected her to use “When I tell him to be stronger and to try harder in

things he would say “everyone’s different and it’s okay to be weak” I expected her

to use this event because I was in the house when this bizarre event happened.

His mother along with my whole family including my sister who is in the sixth

grade went silent and looked at him with confused and mad expressions. I then

asked “Why do you think everyone had the same reactions?” she replied with “It’s

obvious that we are not fine with that type of thinking, that type of thinking is what

makes losers. The rest of the interview was her just giving multiple more

scenarios in which her son had shown her that what he is being taught in school

does not satisfy her. Our family knows this because we asked him who told him

that and he responded with “The teacher and youtube”. There are many reasons

why we don’t want him to act like this one being the reason his mother explained.

I’m not saying that the teachers should not implement good ethics into children

like sympathy and hard work because those are widely wanted and needed and

there are other ways of doing this.Like stated by USA Test Prep “Roles Of

Teachers in Students Development”. It might be where we are from but I am

sure there are a lot of religious American parents with the same views because it

doesn’t only have to do with raising children with winning mindsets. His mother,

myself, my parents, and my sister think this is what causes some children to start

exploring the LGBTQ community because, alongside the mentality of "everyone’s

different" and "everyone should be accepted based on their feelings," introducing

the exhausting amount of things you can identify to be included in the LGBTQ

community would clearly cause these curious minds these kids have, such as my

nephew, to start pretending, just like how they pretend to be animals and play

with action figures and dolls, which ultimately leads to them believing it. This may

seem like a negative way of raising children to some, but almost all religions

prohibit that type of behavior, and families have values that should be respected.

The teachers should acknowledge this, put aside their own views, and

understand it isn’t their child. Another example of how this is prominent comes

from The Texan Tribune, titled "In defiance of Attorney General Ken Paxton,

Austin ISD’s Pride Week marches on." In this article, it states, "Every school did

different kinds of events for Pride Week, Nguyen said. Some elementary schools

had students bring in family photos to highlight different family structures. Some

older students watched a recent episode of the Netflix show Queer Eye that

featured the school district. This not only shows how there are rebellions on

governors trying to protect kids from this topic but also having full on weeks in

elementary schools were children as young as six years old are seeing rainbows

every and being taught about what the school claims as inclusive talks but if they

are teaching them to be inclusive they obviously need to tell them what makes

them different from others and their whole identity which is being highlighted that

week by rainbows everywhere in the school, is defined by their sexuality.

The counter argument towards this subject, highlighted by The Texas

Turbine, is titled, "Critics of Texas’ push for a "Don’t Say Gay" bill say

acknowledging LGBTQ people isn’t the same as teaching kids about sex." In this

article, it proceeds to state the complaints of the people against Governor Dan

Patrick and his "Don’t Say Gay" bill. One of the main complaints used to try and

debunk the bill is that educating the children about the community and

acknowledging them are not the same thing, as shown in this statement:

"Education officials say Texas schools don’t have lessons about sex in

kindergarten through third grade. And LGBTQ advocacy groups accuse

Republicans pushing potential legislation with an ulterior motive — silencing any

acknowledgment, however informal, that LGBTQ people exist." This statement is

completely invalid because of the simple fact that LGBTQ people’s whole identity

is based on sexuality. How could you inform children about a group that is

defined by their sexuality and nothing else without mentioning sex and

inappropriate things for children to consume? This alone debunks the whole

statement on how mentioning and recognizing the LGBTQ community isn’t the

same as exposing and Recognizing them is not the same as saying, "Education

officials say Texas schools don't have sex lessons in kindergarten through third

grade." And LGBTQ advocacy groups accuse Republicans of pushing potential

legislation with an ulterior motive — silencing any acknowledgment, however

informal, that LGBTQ people exist." This statement is completely invalid because

of the simple fact that LGBTQ people’s whole identity is based on sexuality. How

could you inform children about a group that is defined by their sexuality and

nothing else without mentioning sex and inappropriate things for children to

consume? This alone debunks the whole statement on how mentioning and

recognizing the LGBTQ community isn’t the same as exposing sex to little

children and on top of that this sex your exposing isn’t accepted with most

religions and there are humongous amount of religious aprents out there.

In short, there needs to be laws set up to stop teachers from influencing

their students' personal lives to the extent of basically becoming their parents. As

stated by sources, this infuriates many parents. One solution to this is the "Don’t
Lulseged 7

Say Gay Bill" mentioned earlier. This is causing a clash between the teachers

and parents and causing some people who haven’t had kids yet to start

considering homeschooling them because of the fear of their child being

influenced negatively or in the opposite direction of what they want. Don’t be

mistaken, though, this isn’t just a clash of religion versus school. Politics has a

good portion of effect in this scenario, as stated by an article from Education

Week named "How Politics Are Straining Parent-School Relationships." This

year, Republicans in at least 10 states are considering requiring schools to

publish lists of all the books, reading materials, and other activities teachers use.

Some proposals would allow parents to review materials before they are added

to lessons or the school library or to opt their children out of certain activities." At

first, this may seem irrelevant to the motif of this paper, but it ties back to parents

wanting to know more about what their kids are learning from schools, and as

shown, it is mostly Republicans who do this. This is also evident in the "Do Not

Say Gay" bill war between Republicans and Democrats. Overall, there should be

a change in how teachers influence students, and if they do intend to do it, they

need to inform the parents before they act.
