Chapter I
Introduction

Work immersion is a crucial component of the Senior High School

curriculum and refers to the 80 hours of practical experience or work simulation
that students in Grade 12 must do to expose them to the real workplace and to
enhance the competences the school offers. Considering the four exits for SHS
graduates that are planned, such as further education, entrepreneurship,
employment, or middle-level skill development— it is anticipated that the first
group of Grade 12 students will contribute fully to societal advancement and
nation-building. A major component of the SHS curriculum is work immersion,
which is taught in various formats and for varying lengths of time depending on
the needs of the students. The course gives students the chance to practice their
skills in their chosen fields of specialization or applied subjects in real-world
work settings while also giving them the chance to become familiar with the
workplace. This learning experience will undoubtedly help and support students
as they practice their skills in their chosen fields and become familiar with the
workplace simulation. In the K–12 curriculum, completion of work immersion
is a requirement for graduation. Through its specialized curriculum that
prepares Filipino students for future study, work, or entrepreneurship, it seeks to
develop citizens who are internationally competitive. One of life's most valuable
instructors is experience. It can serve as incentive for us as trainees as we
advance in our fields of specialization. This experience will undoubtedly benefit
us in both our future careers as professional employees of the nation and our
daily lives as students in our future careers as professional employees of the
nation as well as our lives as students.

Description of Cooperating
Company/Agency

 History
 Agusan Trade School, the old name of Northern Mindanao College
of Arts, Science and Technology (NMCAST) was established in
Cabadbaran, Agusan del Norte (now Cabadbaran City) under Republic
Act No. 948 which was approved on June 23, 1953. The school
officially opened on July 1, 1954. It offered four trade courses for
boys. The school started with 15 teachers and employees and 190
students who were all boys. For a year, classes were held at the
Cabadbaran Central School Grandstand. The tools used by students
were either borrowed from the elementary shop classes or personally
bought by the shop teachers. Alejandro P. Dabuet, the first school
principal, ran the school until 1957.
      The original school buildings which were made of bamboo slats,
coconut trunks and nipa roofing, were gradually replaced with semi-
permanent buildings.
      Ten years after its establishment, the school was converted into
Northern Mindanao School of Arts and Trades (NMSAT) under
Republic Act No. 3630. The school was granted permission to open
trade-mechanical education courses. The school principal then was
Teodolfo Despojo. The principal item was reclassified to Vocational
School Administration from 1973 – 1992.
      Republic Act No. 7517 which was approved on May 21, 1992
converted the school into Northern Mindanao College of Arts, Science
and Technology (NMCAST). With the conversion of the school into a
college, two degree courses were initially opened in 1995 in addition
to the existing two-year courses. The secondary department was
turned into a laboratory school, in accordance with the Commission on
Higher Education (CHED) Order No. 4 and 8 thus, there was a
gradual decrease in enrollment in the high school until it reached the
500 mark.
      From October 2000, the Northern Mindanao College of Arts,
Science and Technology (NMCAST) in Cabadbaran was integrated
with the Northern Mindanao State Institute of Science and Technology
(NORMISIST) and known as the NORMISIST Cabadbaran Campus.
      On July 27, 2009, Congress of the Philippines passed into law
Republic Act No. 9854 which was subsequently signed by the
President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo on December 16, 2009,
effectively fusing together Northern Mindanao State Institute of
Science and Technology in Butuan City and Northern Mindanao
College of Arts, Science and Technology in Cabadbaran City into
Caraga State University retaining the Butuan City branch at its main
campus.

CHAPTER III
Narration of Experiences
Narrative Report

Day 1

March 6, 2023

On the first day of my work immersion, I was really afraid about making errors
since I was a newcomer. It dawned on me at that point that I needed to demonstrate
my ability to be firm, adaptable, and versatile in any situation. The dean of the CEIT
department briefed us on the guidelines and the task. He then gave us instructions to
organize the school files, remove the decorations from the main office, and clean the
area.

This day wasn't too difficult; it allowed us the chance to express our thoughts
openly and without fear in order to improve anything. I'm still eager for additional
activities and things to be taught throughout this immersion.

Day 2

March 7, 2023

On the second day of work immersion, the dean provided us instructions

and suggestions about our task, including themes and lessons about when and
how to perform it. He then allowed us to apply everything to the jobs that we
were given. Then, over lunch, I got to talk to my fellow schoolmates. It was
enjoyable to strike up a conversation with them. We immediately returned to
work after eating lunch. We were tasked to arrange school files, after that, we
had completed all of our duties successfully.

Day 3
March 8,2023

On the third day of work immersion, I was introduced to the other office staff,
after that we were tasked to arrange some school files. After that there were no other
tasks that was assigned to us, because they were really busy with conducting
meetings.

In addition to providing work experience, this work immersion helps expose

students to genuine professionals and introduces them to individuals in high and low
positions in the environment we are in. I realized that through these experiences, We,
the pupils, will be able to adapt to the attitudes and personalities of others.

Day 4

March 9,2023

On the fourth day of work immersion, we were transferred to another office, as

the dean was on a work-related trip to Iligan City for a conference. We were then
introduced to the person in-charge of the office and was immediately given a task
right after. We were tasked to check the students grades on the website and see if it
matches the grades on their cards. We spent the whole day checking their grade on
every subject, and thankfully, we managed to get everything done by the end of the
day.

Day 5

March 10,2023
On the fifth day of work immersion, we were tasked to write the evaluation
date on the papers we checked the day before. After that were assigned to check the
approval sheets and application for graduation papers. This day was very hectic, yet
we still managed to complete it by the end of the day because of the teamwork, me
and my schoolmates displayed. The person in-charge was very impressed of our work
pace.

Day 6

March 13,2023

On the sixth day of work immersion, when we went inside the office we were
assigned to. Things were very hectic in the morning, since they had an upcoming
meeting by the end of the day. So, we were assigned to go to other offices and have
papers signed by the higher staff positions, but we had to wait a while since some of
them already had other meetings. After we were done, we went to have lunch. In the
afternoon, we then helped the 4th year students to recheck their OJT papers so they can
be deployed in the same day after their papers were approved. The students who were
older than us were friendly and welcoming, and they thanked us for our help.

Day 7

March 14,2023

On the seventh day of work immersion, when we went inside the office the
person in-charge asked us to recheck the grades again since he forgot to put something
and apologized because we have to go all over the mountain of paperwork again, but
we said it was okay. It took us whole morning to have everything done. The person in-
charge then said it was okay for us to have lunch, so we then went to have lunch.
After that, we went back to the office we were assigned at, the person in-charge then
asked me to go to the dean’s and have all the papers we checked so far to be signed.
Since it was a lot of papers, I waited the whole afternoon before coming back to the
office with all the papers signed.

Day 8

March 15,2023

On the eight day of work immersion, when we went inside the office, the
person in-charge asked us if we knew how to make a video presentation, and we said
yes. He then asked us to make one for the up-coming anniversary of the Caraga State
University COOP. We then immediately made a script for the event and gathered
photos of the past achievements of their COOP. After we were done with the script,
we had to record a voice over for the presentation. So, the person in-charge made us
go the private rooms in the library to record the audio. After we were done with
recording, we immediately went back to the office to edit the presentation.

Day 9

March 16,2023

On the ninth day of work immersion, when we went to the office, not much
work was done, because we were too quick to finish all the paper works that was
assigned to us. So, the person in-charge had us join a photoshop orientation, so we can
use it in the future. Over-all the experience was amazing. We had talked with other
college students who were also attending the orientation and asked us what our
immersion is about and if it’s similar with On-the-Job Training. When the orientation
was done, the person in-charge then asked us to practice the skills we learned in the
photoshop orientation.

Day 10

March 17,2023

On the tenth day of work immersion, when we went inside the office, the
person in-charge asked us if today was the last day of our work immersion, we said
yes, he then joked about extending the work immersion, since we were a huge help
around the office. After conversing with the staff, he then asked us to edit the
students’ memorandum of agreement by different departments. After everything was
edited, we had a ceremony for our certification of completion. We were kind of shy
about the ceremony since all of the staff was there and congratulated us. We then
thanked them for the experience and told them we appreciate their kindness and
patience.
