Cbse Invitation
Definition:
A written or Verbal request inviting someone to go somewhere or to do
something.
(or)
The action of inviting someone to go somewhere or to do something.
(or)
It is a request to participate in a specific event or take part in something.
TYPES OF INVITATION:
1. Formal invitation
2. Informal invitation
FORMAL INVITATION:
Formal invitations are printed on cards which we invite our guests on
some auspicious occasions like weddings, birthdays, house warming,
inauguration of shops and factory, etc.
It contains complete information. Generally, It answers the questions
like “Who, whom, when, where, what time and for what.
Characteristics of Formal Invitations:
1. These are written in the third person.
2. Don’t include the names of addressee’s(Name of the invitee), it should
be written only on the envelope.
3. But when we invite VIP as the chief guest , then we should write the
name of that VIP.
4. Generally, Simple present tense is to be used.
5. No need to write The date of writing
6. No need to put the signature of the host.
7. We should write RSVP(French phrase =repondez s’il vous
plait/Pronunciation=reponday sil vu plate) on the left side with and
phone number. RSVP means “Please reply”/Please respond
8. As per the guidelines given by CBSE , the length of formal invitations
shouldn’t exceed 50 words

1. You are the principal of Narayana Techno School, Visakhapatnam. Write an invitation inviting
the important persons of the town to grace the annual function of the school. Mr. Ch. Rajsekhar
, Commissioner, Visakhapatnam has agreed to preside over the function.
INFORMAL INVITATION:
Informal invitations are nothing but personal letters written to friends, acquaintances and
relatives.
Personal feelings and emotions can be shown
The length of the informal invitations should not exceed 50 words just like the formal
invitations.

in the company of my younger brothers and sisters. We shall have great fun. I am sure you will join us in
