ASSIGNMENT (Moral Reasoning)
Instructions:
1. Compose a group of three and discuss the following situation. Then analyze the
options and consequences based on Jeremy Bentham’s Felicific or Hedonistic
Calculus. Simply put a check mark on an option that satisfies the criteria. Then make
a moral judgment by choosing which course of action Pedro must make following
utilitarianism and explain why.
2. Put all your group answers in the table accordingly.
3. Write all the names of the group members in the table but each member will submit
this assignment in the Google Classroom (GCR) under his/her GCR account.
4. This is worth 15 points. The grade of the group will be the grade of each member.

The Felicific/Hedonistic Calculus

Situation: Pedro is thinking of enrolling in his 7 subjects in the coming semester as
indicated in his course curriculum. This means that he must give much of his time
attending classes, studying lessons, doing assignments, preparing and taking exams, and
doing other things that are required in his subjects. This further means that he would not
have time to earn a living by getting a job. On the other hand, Pedro is also thinking of
getting a job in a grocery store where he would work from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, except on a
lunch break from Monday to Friday. This means he can have money to support his daily
needs and save some for school needs later if he decides to continue his college.
Criteria Enroll in 7 subjects Work in a grocery store
