I. Objectives
The objective of this experiment is to understand, design, simulate and validate the
theory of a Buck Converter operating in the Continuous Conduction Mode (CCM) using
ideal components.
a) The circuit is operating in the steady state mode at constant switching period T.
Parameter Vin f L C Vo R
3) Measure the peak-peak ripple ΔiL and compare it with the theoretical value
4) Plot iC waveform. Compare the iC waveform with the ripple in iL. Find the average
value of iC. Comment on the results and the comparison.
5) Plot the input current waveform and calculate its average and compare it to its
theoretical value. Comment on the results.
6) Make the load resistance R twice its original value. Measure the peak-peak ripple
current ΔiL. Compare this ΔiL to the one obtained in 3). Comment on this
comparison.
ii. Again make the load resistance R twice its original value. Comment on
the obtained results.
IV. Conclusion
Conclude the report by summarizing the important benefits from the carried works, and
provide a good discussion and guidance on the design aspects of a Buck DC-DC
converter.
