Director's Desk

Dear Readers,
A Happy New Year 2023!

First of all, I wish you the biggest slice of happiness and good luck in the new year. I
congratulate the students and faculty who have taken the initiative and have contributed to
this 5th edition of the institute magazine. It is the time to reflect on the past year, celebrate
our achievements as NITP family and set our eyes on the future.
In the past year, our institute secured 63rd rank in NIRF ranking. This ever-highest
institute rank was possible due to the academic performance, innovative research, hard
work and dedication of the entire NITP fraternity. Also, I congratulate the entire NIT Patna
family for coming together for the development of the additional institute campus at Bihta.
We are confident of starting academic activities in this campus from July 2024.

best wishes for their future endeavours.
I am confident that NIT Patna is on the steady path of growth and progress. We aspire to
be at the epitome of teaching, learning, research and innovation for nation-building. My
vision for the future is to achieve excellence in academic performance, to enhance the
research output by inter-disciplinary and multi-institution collaboration, to encourage
entrepreneurship & innovation. All these activities will together help in the upliftment of
our society and our country as a whole.
Thank you and best wishes!!

Boosting Vigour – The
NIRF Ranking
National Institute Ranking Framework
Ministry of Education, Govt. of India

The National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) is the result of the

institute's performance in academics, infrastructure, administration, research,
and other areas. It is the methodology used by the Government of India's
Ministry of Education to rank higher education institutions in India. It serves
as a motivator for institutions to strive for and achieve success in the fields of
teaching, research, and innovation.
It is a very proud moment for the NITP family to announce that we have
risen to 63rd in the country in the NIRF ranking. This represents an increase
of more than 120 positions in just five years. This is the result of the tireless
efforts of our students, PhD scholars, researchers, faculty, staff, and every
other member of the institute.

BIHTA CAMPUS
The current NIT Patna Ashok Rajpath campus has 33 acres of land that is now
completely saturated. The Bihar government has provided 125 acres of land in
Bihta, which is currently under construction. The additional campus of NIT
Patna at Bihta is currently being built for 2500 students at a cost of Rs. 600
Crore, and 2000 students are expected to remain at the current Ashok-Rajpath
campus. The Ministry of Education, Government of India, has released the
required funds through HEFA Window II. Bihta Campus is scheduled to be
fully operational in July 2024. The project monitoring agency is NBCC, and
the builder is Ahluwalia Contracts India Limited (ACIL) for this massive
construction project.

This upcoming campus is being built using the Engineering Procurement

Commissioning (EPC) mode and Building Information Modeling (BIM), with
the implementation of key features such as pre-stressed and pre-tensioned
building elements, an Integrated Solid Waste Management (ISWM), the use
of surface water, and rainwater harvesting to ensure the balance of an eco-
environment cycle. Furthermore, the most recent solar energy technology is
being efficiently implemented to meet the campus's lighting needs, such as
street lighting and other purposes. Additionally, locally available materials
such as fly ash bricks, metakaolin, and Pozzolana are being used in the
construction of this upcoming campus.

The South Bihar Power Distribution Company Limited (SBPDCL) has

already built, commissioned, and operates a dedicated power substation to
supply power to the campus. To maintain energy efficiency, the line is
distrusted in two sections: academic and residential.

Once completed, the NIT Patna Bihta campus will provide state-of-the-art
facilities to its stakeholders and will be a significant step forward in the
Institute's overall growth, alleviating the Institute's current restrictions in
starting newer Departments, Contemporary Courses, Centers of Excellence,
PG Programs, and other Entrepreneurial activities due to space constraints.

NATIONAL EDUCATION POLICY
2020

NIT Patna organised a number of workshops to help with the

effective implementation of the National Education Policy
(NEP) 2020. On November 30, 2021, a one-day workshop
was held jointly by NIT Patna, College of Commerce Arts and
Science Patna, and Shiksha Sanskriti Utthan Nyas, Bihar.
Director Prof. P. K. Jain explained the NEP 2020's emphasis
on a holistic approach. In addition to the national committee,
sub-committees such as the higher education sub-committee,
the school committee, and the technical education sub-
committee have been formed at the state level. The National
Policy on Education 2020 emphasises a multidisciplinary
approach. The regulations require universities to begin a skill
development programme. There should be a synergy between
the needs of the country and the students of the educational
institution, as determined by local needs.

A two-session one-day workshop on "NEP, Matrivasha me

Takniki Vikas, and Charitra Nirman" was held in NIT Patna's
Vishweshwaraya Hall. The workshop's keynote speaker was
renowned educationist Shri Atul Kothari Ji, national secretary
of Shiksha Sanskriti Utthan Nyas in New Delhi. He explained
the NEP 2020's basic moto and policy. According to him,
India's new National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 was
created with the Indian culture in mind, and it is the country's
third education policy since independence.

SHRI SHRI RAVI SHANKAR JI
Dear Readers,
My sincerest greetings, wishes and gratitude to the entire NIT
Patna family. I am very much ecstatic and excited to witness
PRATIBIMB 5.0. For the past 4-5 years, I have had the
pleasure of working with NITP students through the Institute
Induction program. This year, we have recognised the
maximum number of student participants from NIT Patna.
Our consciousness is like a library where there are millions of
books, but it is not necessary that the librarian knows every
book by heart. But he knows where it is, and when it is
needed, he can pick it up and use it. In the same way, though
our consciousness is the abode of all knowledge, it is not
necessary to know everything all the time. But when your
mind is completely still, and there is no craving or aversion,
you are simply free. Then you are like the librarian, who
possesses all the knowledge of the library and can access it
when it is needed.

Just coming to class and learning a few lessons is not really the education that a child needs instead, need is the
total development of the body and the mind because they are linked. Human values like a sense of belongingness,
sharing, loving and caring, and non-violence need to be cultivated for the sake of the mind and the body. These
principles are the basis on which you can start building your idea of human values. I believe that students and
readers are highly blessed with “Five mantras to a prosperous life for new beginners”
1. This Begins a New Practice
This begins a new practice of weekly dispatches of knowledge. Here is the first segment dictated at Big Sur, 21
June 1995. (i) Beyond an event is Knowledge, (ii) Beyond a person is love, (iii) Beyond an object is infinity, and
finally, (iv) Knowledge is not in an event; it is beyond an event.
2. Doubt
Doubt is a grey (neither white nor black) area. An event, knowledge, or convention cannot help. Accepting it
either as black or as white will help. Put it either as black and accept it or as white and accept it. And see the gray
as a shade of black or white. Either way you accept it. Then the mind is quiet. You are not in the gray area.
3. Dealing with Blame
When someone blames you, what do you usually do? Blame them back, or you put up resistance in yourself.
When someone blames you, they actually take away some negative karma from you.
4. The Love of the Ignorant & the Anger of the Enlightened
The love of the ignorant can be harmful yet even the anger of the Enlightened is not harmful. It can be only good!
5. Sensitivity & Strength
Those who are sensitive often feel weak. Those who feel strong are often insensitive.
Best wishes from the bottom of my heart for everything you do in the future.

. ~his holiness of Sri Sri Ravi Shankar Ji.

Conferences @ NITP
1. ITPI EAST ZONE @2022
The Institute of Town Planners, India, owes its origin to a small
group of Town Planners of Delhi, who in 1947 decided to set up
a professional Town Planning Institute on lines similar to the
Royal Town Planning Institute, London. The number of
planners, which then did not exceed six, was too small for a
registered society to be set up, and therefore, the small group
formed itself into an Indian Board of Town Planners and started
working towards establishing a professional Institute.
So, ITPI East Zone Conference 2022 was organized at NIT
Patna. Professor of IIT Roorkee UK Rai addressed the Eastern
Region Conference at NIT, Patna, on behalf of the Institute of
Town Planners India (ITPI) Bihar Chapter and also presented
the proposed project of the Zonal Development Plan and Area
Development Scheme of Patna. ITPI general secretary E
Pradeep Kapoor said that the central government has talked
about making the new master plan GIS-based. Madhya Pradesh,
Gujarat, and Odisha are leading in this. In this, there is a need to
work on behalf of the state government by taking the local
people into confidence. Better work is being done on transport in
Bihar. Work is also going on the metro. Underground work is
being done here, it is a matter of great pleasure. Now it is
necessary that in the areas where such work is being done, there
is a need for better development through land pulling. This will
also speed up the recovery of investment.

2. ICEFEET @2022
ICEFEET-2022 is the second edition of the International Conference on Emerging Frontiers in Electrical and
Electronic Technologies at the Department of Electrical Engineering, National Institute of Technology Patna on
24th and 25th of June 2022. This conference is to provide scientists, researchers, academicians, and industry
personnel with a forum to deliberately exchange ideas and produce research collaborations for the technologies
that have the potential to significantly impact the domains of Power systems, Power Converters, Control
systems, Machine Drives, Embedded systems, Measurement and Sensing technologies. The conference, with
keynote lectures by eminent persons, paper presentations, panel discussion, and opportunities for industry/trade
exhibits, will provide a platform for gaining knowledge and facilitate interaction among the participants.

PAGE 11 PRATIBIMB Vol. 05

3. CRTDH @2022
The Common Research and Technology Development Hub
(CRTDH), set up by the Department of Scientific and
Industrial Research (DSIR), had the primary objective that
innovative ideas can be translated into marketable products
and services. Besides providing analytical services and
advanced research equipment, CRTDH also facilitates
industry-institution interactions and assists MSMEs &
startups in getting access to already developed technologies
available in the CSIR laboratories for taking their ideas to
market. This edition of the conference was pivoted around
Microwave Absorbing Materials, Department of Electronics
and Communication Engineering, NIT Patna, in
collaboration with the Science and Engineering Research
Board (SERB) India. The session was presided over by
several named dignitaries and saw its successful execution.

PhD AWARDEES
A PhD is a globally recognized postgraduate academic degree awarded by universities and higher education
institutions to candidates who have submitted a thesis or dissertation based on extensive and original research in
their chosen field. PhDs are awarded for programs across the whole breadth of academic fields. Because it is an
earned research degree, those studying for a PhD are required to produce original research that expands the
boundaries of knowledge, normally in the form of a dissertation, and defend their work before a panel of other

experts in the field. The completion of a PhD is often a requirement for employment as a university professor,
researcher, or scientist in many fields.
For this reason, NIT - Patna has always encouraged research on its campus. A large number of students pursue
PhD degrees at this institute every year. This year, the following PhD students received a PhD defence or had
their PhD thesis accepted.

Gallantry of the Gallant One
“The number of colours , in Indian flag,
O little girl! Stand and brag.”
Asked a teacher, to the doll,
Who swiftly responded, looking front wall.
Those five colours, she listed down,
The Tricolours, with blue and reddish brown,
She added blue, of the centre wheel,
And coffin red, of her mother’s, haemoglobin.
So the tales, of her angel mother come,
In family, the only little one,
Being the fragrance of flower house,
And the apple of eyes, of couples spouse.
She, the dignity, of the birth giver,
Wanted to, become the nation’s pride,
Desiring her hands, on gun’s trigger,
And all the nation traitors, to be died.
Beret, took place of the red veil,
And bridal outfit, exchanged by blazer pale,
Rifles became ornament of the hands,
Vermilion not! Parting of hair filled by sand.
Becoming the mother, of the motherland,
Reaching the apex, made her life grand,
Coming back home, in the litter of casket,
Wearing the five coloured Flag, and flowers of basket.
Telling the woman to the fathers,
Brothers, sisters, and their mothers,
“I am the guard of all your life,
Without any relations, like husband and wife.
I have only a single dream,
Sleep for long, to become the gleam,
Kiran Saini Ayush Kumar
Don’t cry, and take it as a fun ,
ME Because, this the Gallantry of the gallant one.”2104185
