Officer
The Embassy of Denmark in Cairo is seeking a dynamic Political and Media Officer
with solid social media skills to be part of a vibrant workplace.

About the Role


As part of the Political team, the Political and Media Officer will closely monitor
Arabic and English language media and provide the Embassy with relevant data and
political analysis, in addition to administering the Embassy’s grant portfolio. The
Political and Media Officer will also be a central part of the Communication Team.

Duties and Responsibilities


 Monitoring political developments in Egypt and in the region as well as
preparing analytical reports and briefings.
 Developing communications and social media content in Arabic and English
for the Embassy’s social media platforms.
 Administering the Embassy’s development grant portfolio.
 Having a central role in the Communication Team in setting and following the
Embassy’s media strategy as well as creating and publishing content on the
Embassy’s social media platforms.
 Maintaining and expanding the Embassy’s network of relevant stakeholders.
 Attending relevant conferences and events in Egypt and/or in Denmark as
needed.
 Assisting in organising delegation visits from Denmark to Egypt.
 Other duties as assigned.

General Profile
 Have a strong interest in – and knowledge about – the political and societal
field in Egypt and in the region.
 Have solid analytical skills.
 Be dynamic, results-oriented, and a good team player.
 Have an outgoing personality with the ability to make new contacts to
external partners.
 Have excellent verbal and written communications skills.
 Be flexible and able to contribute on a broad range of the Embassy’s tasks.
 Be professional and have a high degree of integrity.

Minimum Requirements
 Relevant experience in the political/media field, preferably at embassies,
media outlets, international/multilateral organisations, NGOs, or think tanks.
 A Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field of study – preferably Political Science,
International Relations, Development or Journalism.
 Experience working with social media and targeted communication.
 Fluency in Arabic and English (written and spoken).
 Essential computer skills, including MS Office.

Desired Qualifications (Not necessary)


 A Master’s Degree in a relevant field.
 Knowledge of Danish society and politics.

Employment Conditions, Salary, and Compensation


The Embassy offers attractive and flexible working conditions and a competitive
salary package.

 Your standard working hours will be 37 hours per week with a large degree of
flexibility in organising your daily working hours.
 You will be entitled to annual paid holiday as per legally binding labour
market rules of Egypt and the Embassy’s staff rules.
 You will be offered reasonable coverage of sickness expenses.
 Your salary will be within the Embassy’s salary policy, and will reflect your
qualifications and relevant experience. As part of your salary, you will be
covered by a workplace pension scheme.
 This is a fixed-term contract for a period of two years with the possibility of
extension.

Selected candidates will be invited for a written test and interviews expected to take
place no later than the end of August. Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.

The chosen candidate must present a “No Criminal Record” and pass security
clearance by the Danish authorities prior to appointment. Expected start date as
soon as possible.
