Grade 10 LP Quartile
Grade 10 LP Quartile
Grade 10 LP Quartile
CONTENT STANDARD
The learner demonstrates understanding of key concepts of measures of position.
PERFORMANCE STANDARD
The learners are able to conduct systematically a minimal research applying the different
statistical methods.
LEARNING COMPETENCIES
The learners should be able to…
Illustrate the measures of position (quartile).
Calculate a specified measure of position (e.g. Quartile).
I. OBJECTIVES
At the end of the lesson, the students are expected to:
a. determine the quartile of ungrouped data,
b. solve for the specified measures of position; and
c. apply the concept of quartile of ungrouped data in analyzing and interpreting
research data.
C. INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS:
Marker
Cartolina and Manila paper
Worksheets
Measuring tools for weight and height
Calculator.
D. SKILLS TO DEVELOP: Critical Thinking, socialization, solving, representing and communicating.
E. VALUES INTEGRATION: perseverance, accuracy, cooperation and teamwork.
F. METHODOLOGY: 4A’s (activity, analysis, abstraction, and application)
G. CONCEPT:
o Measures of Position are techniques that divide a set of data into equal groups the
different measures of positions are quartile, deciles, and percentile.
o Quartiles are the score points which divide a distribution into four equal parts. Twenty-
five percent (25%) of the distribution are below the first quartile, fifty percent (50%) of
the distribution are below the second quartile, and seventy-five percent (75%) of the
distribution are below the third quartile. Q 1 is called the lower quartile and Q3 is the
upper quartile. Q1 < Q2 < Q3, where Q2 is nothing but the median.
FORMULA:
k
Qk = (n+1) Qk =number of quartiles

n=number of samples
4=constant divisor

IV. EVALUATION
Solve for Q1, Q2, and Q3. Interpret your answer.
The following data give the accumulated number of hours spent by 18 students of Grade 10
Euler in doing their assignments and projects last week.
V. ASSIGNMENT
A. Observe around your community. Make a problem involving quartiles base
from what you observe. Solve your own problem.
B. Answer the following questions
a. Study about deciles of ungrouped data.
b. Give the formula for deciles of ungrouped data
