“Much Stronger Than You Think” 
by Jacob Daniel B. Pagulayan
Adapted

You may be deceived at first

At how much a bamboo tree is worth.
It looks thin and frail as a chopstick,
But it really is much stronger than you think!

A bamboo tree is a graceful dancer.

A bamboo tree is a great defender.
A bamboo tree is like rubber.
A bamboo tree is like a father.

See the bamboo tree sway where the wind blows.

Witness the bamboo tree bend up to its toes.
Can other trees do this?
Oh, no! I don’t think so!

Is it strong and useful to man?

Yes, you can use it in as many ways as you can!
It symbolizes a race, this we should know,
Because a bamboo is as resilient as Filipinos.
