The School Reading Camp at Kinale Elementary School kicked off on July 24, 2023, with
great enthusiasm and a commitment to nurturing young minds. Over the course of a month,
from 8:00 AM to 9:30 AM, the camp provided a nurturing environment for nine Grade 1 pupils,
aiming to enhance their reading skills and foster a love for learning.
Throughout the camp's duration, a team of dedicated educators and volunteers worked
tirelessly to create a conducive atmosphere for the pupils. The program's primary focus was to
develop their reading abilities, enabling them to comprehend and engage with various types of
texts. The daily sessions were carefully designed to be interactive and engaging, incorporating
storytelling, group reading activities, and guided reading exercises.
The pupils responded enthusiastically to the engaging activities, showcasing their
progress over the weeks. Their increased confidence in reading aloud and their ability to
comprehend complex sentences were notable achievements. Through the use of age-
appropriate books and interactive games, the pupils' vocabulary and language skills were also
noticeably enhanced.
The School Reading Camp was not just about academics; it also emphasized character
