NARRATIVE REPORT ON NATIONAL READING CAMP

Grade I-Developing Class
The School Reading Camp at Kinale Elementary School kicked off on July 24, 2023, with
great enthusiasm and a commitment to nurturing young minds. Over the course of a month,
from 8:00 AM to 9:30 AM, the camp provided a nurturing environment for nine Grade 1 pupils,
aiming to enhance their reading skills and foster a love for learning.
Throughout the camp's duration, a team of dedicated educators and volunteers worked
tirelessly to create a conducive atmosphere for the pupils. The program's primary focus was to
develop their reading abilities, enabling them to comprehend and engage with various types of
texts. The daily sessions were carefully designed to be interactive and engaging, incorporating
storytelling, group reading activities, and guided reading exercises.
The pupils responded enthusiastically to the engaging activities, showcasing their
progress over the weeks. Their increased confidence in reading aloud and their ability to
comprehend complex sentences were notable achievements. Through the use of age-
appropriate books and interactive games, the pupils' vocabulary and language skills were also
noticeably enhanced.
The School Reading Camp was not just about academics; it also emphasized character
development and teamwork. Group activities encouraged cooperation and communication
among the pupils, fostering a sense of unity and camaraderie. The educators also took the
opportunity to instill values such as empathy, respect, and perseverance, guiding the pupils
towards becoming well-rounded individuals.

the air. The pupils showcased their newfound reading skills during a culminating activity, where
they read aloud confidently in front of their peers and families. Certificates of participation were

Grade III-Developing Class
The National Reading Camp held at Kinale Elementary School from July
24 to August 23, 2023, marked an inspiring and transformative journey in
nurturing the reading skills of grade 3 pupils. With sessions scheduled from 8:00 to
9:30 a.m. every Monday to Wednesday, the camp aimed to foster a love for reading
and enhance literacy levels among young learners.
Throughout the month-long program, the camp proved to be a hub of
learning, engagement, and camaraderie. The initiative was tailored to cultivate a
comprehensive approach to reading, encompassing not only phonetic skills but also
comprehension, critical thinking, and creativity.
Each day, the pupils eagerly participated in interactive group activities that
encouraged them to explore a wide range of literary genres. Storytelling sessions
brought to life the magic of words, while guided reading exercises enabled pupils
to develop their reading fluency and comprehension abilities. Engaging discussions
on various topics sparked curiosity and helped refine their analytical skills.

In conclusion, the National Reading Camp at Kinale Elementary School
