1. The block diagram of a servomechanism system is shown in Fig. 1. Determine the characteristic [10]
equation of the system. Also, calculate the following when the unit step input is given:
a) undamped and damped frequency of oscillations;
b) Damping ratio and damping factor;
c) Maximum overshoot;
d) Time interval after which maximum and minimum output will occur;
e) Settling time;
f) Number of cycles completed before the output is settled within 2% of the final value.

2. Consider the system shown in Fig. 2 is subjected to a unit step input, the system output responds [10]
as shown in Fig. 3. Determine the values of K and T from the response curve.

3. Sketch the root locus for a system having an open-loop transfer function given by [10]
