    Globalization of Education and Economy has led the SJCIT to reorient and reshape its policies and
    programmes to make the current Engineering Education System more relevant and career-oriented
    with focus on quality and excellence. It is envisaged that professionally qualified engineering
    graduates with a sound knowledge of their core disciplines and expertise in a concerned skill will have
    more openings in service, industry and self-employment sectors. Demand and scope for such
    professionally trained engineering graduates in the current changing global scenario is likely to
    increase in the future. To meet this challenge SJCIT with its academic autonomy initiated several
    modifications in the curriculum framework and provides a facility to choose interested vocational /
    certificate courses by students as a parallel sub-discipline while pursuing their under graduate level
    education

    OBJECTIVE OF TOTAL STATION:


    This course covers the use of Total Station technology and its application for project lay-out
    & construction. Classroom instruction combined with hands-on training with a Total Station
    providing the skills and applications is necessary in the field of surveying

    COURSE CONTENTS

     Day1-Presentation on latest surveying Technologies. Seven steps in learning total station


    Demo and Practice
     Day2-Three point traverse Demo and Practice
     Day3-Topographical Survey Demo and Practice
     Day4-Setting Out, Area Calculation, Resection Demo and Practice
     Day5-Downloading,Converting raw data to excel, AutoCAD and preparation of drawings,
    sample projects analysis

    OUTCOMES
    This STTP about the students gaining knowledge and skills on using the modern equipment.
    And also presents other skills which students imbibed after performing the open ended
    experiment such as analyzing the data collected from the field in the software and producing
    terrain maps of different configuration & views and calculating the quantity of earthwork as
    an output from the software. The software also presents a statistical data for further study.
    The main aim of conducting this open ended experiment is to make students perform this
    activity which can be related to the real world scenario. The current experiment is performed
    assuming the coordinates whereas real – time coordinates must be considered as input in total
    station for more accuracy which is the future scope of this work.
