Size: Make with any yarn...Add as many rounds as you like
Using a J hook and worsted weight yarn the square measures about 8 by 8 inches at the
end of the first round of skulls, and 16 by 16 with 2 rounds of skulls
Begin in center

Ch 6. Join with a sl st to form a ring.

Round 1
Ch 3. 3 dc in ring. (Ch 4, 4 dc in ring)2x. Ch 4, 4 dc, Ch 1. Dc in top of turning chain.
Brings
yarn to the start of the next row, and hides join. Ch 1. Turn

Dc in top of turning ch Brings yarn in position to start round 2

Round 2
2 sc over bar of dc just made. (Sc in between the next 3 dc. 5 sc over ch 4 loop)3x Sc in
between the next 3 dc. End ,3 sc over beginning loop. Sl in 1st sc to join. Ch 1, turn.
Round 3

Each skull will be completed in 3 steps before moving on to the next. This will be
accomplished by working short rows over 7 sts before turning.
Part 1 Nose
Sk over the sl st join.
*Sc in the next 4 sts, ch 3. Sk 1 st, sc in next 3. ( Nose opening should be centered over
the teeth). ch 5, turn.

Hole for nose created. Note: 4 sc at beg, and 3 sc at end. The extra sc is the inc for the
row, and will be used on round 4.
Part 2 Eyes
Sk 2 sts, sc into ch 3 loop. Ch 5, sk 2 sts. Sc in next st. Turn (1 st will remain un worked
in each corner. You will use that st on the next row as part of the corner inc)

Start of eyes formed. Pins point out the corner sc which will remain un worked

Part 3 Finish eyes


*6 sc in ch 5 loop, 6 sc in next ch 5 loop. Sl st in the same st at base of chain.
Repeat from * around 4X. Sl st into the un worked sc left behind at the beg of the row.
Ch 6, turn
1st skull completed Round complete

Round 4 Foreheads

*Sk 2 sc on the eye. Sc across the 8 st on the top of the head of the skull. Ch 2, sk last 2
sc. ( Tr ,ch 4, tr, ch 2)all in the un worked sc in the corner. (Inc made )Repeat from *3x.

Sk 2 sc on the eye. Sc in the next 8. End, ch 2. Tr in the same st as the starting ch. Ch 2.
Dc in the 4th st of the starting chain to join. Ch 3, turn.

Corner increases made in st left un worked from last row.


Round 5 OPTIONAL ROW Use these directions if you chose to end your square here
and want a decorative finish for a stand alone square. Ending here leaves a scalloped
edge.
3 dc in same sp as turning ch.* Ch 2. Sk ch 2, sl in the next 2 sts on skull, 4 sc across the
top of the skull. Sl in the last 2 sts Ch 2 . sk 2 sc, (4 dc, ch 4, 4 dc) all in the corner loop
repeat from* 3x. Ch 2. Sl st in the next 2 . 4 sc, 2 sl st. ch 2. 4 dc in corner. ch 1. Dc to
join. Ch 3, Turn

Optional ending to square

Round 5 Follow these instructions to continue adding rows to infinity square


3 dc in same sp as turning ch.*Ch 4. Sk tr, ch 2, and 2 sc. 4 sc across the top of the
skull. Ch 4, sk 2 sc, ch 2, and tr. (4 dc, ch 4, 4 dc) all in the corner loop (inc made).
Repeat from* 3x. Ch 4, 4 dc in corner. Ch 2. Dc in turning ch to join. Ch 3, turn.
Round 6 New skulls. Teeth
3 dc in same sp as turning ch. Ch 4, sk 4 dc. 4 dc in loop. Ch 4. sk 4 sc, 4 dc in ch 4
loop. Ch 4, sk 4 dc, (4 dc, ch 4, 4 dc) all in corner loop. Repeat from* 3x. End ,ch 4, sk
4, 4 dc in loop. Ch 4, sk 4 sc. 4 dc in loop. Ch 4, sk 4. 4 dc in corner. Ch 2. Dc in top of
turning ch to join. Ch 1 turn . All the 4 dc groups are new skull teeth.
Round 7 Corner loops will have 1 more sc for the inc than the loops in between the
teeth
2 sc in the first loop. Sc between the next 3 dc. 4 sc over ch 4 loop.
Continue around making 3 sc between the dc, and 4 sc over the ch 4 loops. At the corner
loops make 5 sc instead of 4. to allow for the increase. End with 3 sc in the beginning
loop, join. Ch 1 turn

Row 8 This row will be almost the same as row 3. Each skull is finished individually by
short rows. The difference is that only the second corner skull will start out with 4 sc, ch
3 for nose, sk 1, 3 sc. Ch 5 turn. All the other skulls will start out with 3 sc, ch 3 for
nose, sk 1. 3 sc, ch 5 turn.

**Part 1 Beginning skull and 2nd corner skulls. Nose

Sk Join
4 sc, ch 3, sk 1. 3 sc. Ch 5 turn
Only the first skulls of each side of the square start out with 4 sc before the nose. The
other 3 start with 3 sc.

Part 2 Eyes
Sk 2 sc. Sc into ch 3 loop. Ch 5, sk 2 sc. Sc. Turn. (Leaves 1 st un worked at corner)

Part 3 Finish Eyes


6 sc into ch 5 loop. 6 sc into next loop. Sl st into sc at base of ch.

Pin points to the sc increase at the beginning of the side of the square
Instructions for the next 3 skulls in round
Part 1 (Skulls along the side and the corner skull before you turn to work on the
next side.) Nose
3 sc, ch 3, sk 1. 3 sc. Ch 5 turn
Part 2 Eyes. Sk 2 sc. Sc into ch 3 loop. Ch 5, sk 2 sc. Sc. Turn
Part 3 Finish Eyes.
Turn corner and work 2nd corner as same as the 1st skull (marked with **)

Repeat from ** around. End. Sl st in first sc. Ch 6 turn.

Round 9 On this round there are increases of (tr, ch 2, tr )in the corners. The tops of the
skulls are joined together with sc.
{*Sk 2 sc on first eye. Sc in next 8. Sk last 2 sc on eye. Sk 2 on next skull. 8 sc across
top. Repeat from * 3X to corner.

(Make an increase of ch 2, tr, ch 4. Ch 2) in corner st.} Repeat from * for each side of
square. End tr in same sp as turning chain. Dc in 4th st of turning ch to join. Ch 3 turn.
Round 10
3 dc, ch 4. Sk ch 2, and 2 sc. *(4 sc across skull. Ch 4, sk 4 sc.[2 on each skull] )3x Ch
4, sk 2 sc and ch 2. (4 dc, ch 4, 4 dc, ch 4) All in corner. Repeat in pattern from *around.
End with 4 dc in beginning sp. Ch 1, dc in starting chain to join. Ch 3 turn

Round 11 New Skulls Teeth Row


3 dc in first sp. (Ch 4, sk 4, 4 dc) 5x. (Ch 4, 4 dc, ch 4 ,4 dc)all in corner. Repeat around.
End with 4 dc in beginning corner sp, ch 1. dc in tip of turning chain to join.
Repeat from round 7 to 11 to continue pattern sequence, and to end with a flat edge to
sew or slip st to the next square. To slip st squares together, put them together right
sides facing. Match the sts up, and slip st through the back loop only.

To end with the sculls rounded off End on row 9. Follow the optional directions for
Round 5.
