Kids Help Phone Assignment

In this learning opportunity, you will:


 Take the role of a researcher for: Kids’ Help Phone or a personal trainer.
 Create a presentation that includes the script / talking points that the operators will use during phone calls

During this learning opportunity, you will:


 demonstrate an understanding of factors that contribute to healthy development;
 demonstrate the ability to apply health knowledge and living skills to make reasoned decisions and take appropriate
actions relating to their personal health and well-being;
 demonstrate the ability to make connections that relate to health and well-being – how their choices and behaviours
affect both themselves and others, and how factors in the world around them affect their own and others’ health and
well-being.

You job is to prepare “a presentation” for the operators. You must provide:
 Information about the topic (what it is, what it isn’t, etc. – depends on the topic)
 Hazards, warning signs, or things they should watch out for
 Visual Aids: Pictures, images, charts, graphs, etc.
 Addition resources: A support website, organization, etc. for people to get help in their community

Your final submission:


 Must be an answer to any one of the questions / problems below.
 Can be in any format you like (PowerPoint, Prezi, Infograph, Green Screen Video, Video / Interview,
etc). Your final submission should be sent to the dropbox in D2L.
 Should include pictures, charts, graphs, etc.

You must submit your final presentation AND all your information (in a word document). Both should be
submitted via D2L.

I have noticed a few of my friends vaping. They keep telling me it is harmless because it is just water
vapour. They keep asking me to try it but I am not sure. What should I do? Is it safe?

I just started working out. My friend says I should take protein supplements. What does protein do?
How much do I need to eat? What else do I need to know about protein?

A friend told me that I was addicted to my cell phone. How can I tell if I am in fact addicted to cell
phone use?

As I get into higher grades I have noticed more of my peers experimenting with different drugs. I am
thinking of trying some of these drugs myself. What would be the benefits and consequences of trying
these drugs? Are there any risks to me or my friends?
