The Hunger Games
The Hunger Games is a series of
dystopian novels written by
Suzanne Collins.
The first three novels are part of a

trilogy that tells the story of
Katniss Everdeen, while the fourth
book is a prequel set 64 years
earlier.
Social Criticism
In the world of The Hunger Games, the Capitol lives a life of
extravagant wealth and consumption. Meanwhile, in the "districts,"
millions of people have dangerous and low-wage jobs that often
don't even allow them to feed their children.
It is not difficult to see the parallels with the real world, and
although in the books the author narrates an extreme version of
our society, it is hard not to think that it is a reality not so far from
the one we live in.
The Books
The novels in the trilogy are titled:
The Hunger Games (2008)
Narrates the Hunger Games in which Katniss
participates.
Catching Fire (2009)
The Capitol announces the 75th Hunger Games
with a twist, the tributes will be selected from
the surviving victors of the previous Games.
Mockingjay (2010)
It narrates the war between the districts and
the capitol.
Previous film adaptations
The Hunger Games (3.8/5)
With a great cast and special effects that don't disappoint, the first
adaptation of The Hunger Games is a faithful adaptation of the original book.
Catching Fire (4/5)
The second part of the trilogy received the best reviews as it is considered to
this day one of the most faithful film adaptations in history.
Mockingjay (3.6/5)
The adaptation of the last book was made into two films that received the
worst reviews due to the fact that unlike the other two films that focused on
the Hunger Games, these ones focused on the war, which made them less
dynamic and entertaining.
The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes
It narrates the tenth Hunger Games from the
point of view of Coriolanus Snow , the young
heir of the snow family.
The once influential house of Snows falls on

hard times, and its fate depends on Snow
getting the tribute he mentors to win the
games.
What he didn't imagine was that he would be

assigned to the twelfth District tribute, Lucy
Gray Bird.
The Film
The ballad of songbirds and snakes (3,7/5)
After thirteen years, fans of The Hunger Games finally see it’s prequel on the
big screen.
The film receives both good and bad reviews, on the one hand many fans
hoped to be able to see some of the characters from the main trilogy again,
although the appearance of Katniss and other main characters is impossible
due to chronology issues, many people expected to see fragments of their
parents love story.
On the other hand, the film is as faithful to the book as "Catching Fire" was it
to it’s book .
Coriolanus Snow
He is the protagonist and the bridge between
the main trilogy and the prequel.
Snow represent how materialistic societies

corrupt the population, destroying their ideals
and establishing ones that benefit the
economy.
Throughout the film we can see how he goes

from looking for love, friendship and a
comfortable situation for his family, which goes
through a bad time to looking for power,
money and climbing between social classes.
Lucy Gray Baird
In the Hunger Games we can easily see what is
needed in a rebellion and although in the
prequel there is no rebellion, the foundations of
the future rebellion are then created.
Lucy Gray plays the role of leader, with qualities

such as ease of improvisation and a great
ability to capture the attention of the audience.
This role will be later played by Peeta Melark in

the central trilogy.
Sejanus Plinth
Like Lucy Gray, he represents one of the basic
components of revelation.
In the original trilogy, his role in the rebellion is

given the name "Mockingjay" and is played by
Katniss.
The role of the Mockingjay is to be the voice of

rebellion, to show the frightened population
that they are not alone, that there are people
willing to fight for them and above all to be the
hope that has been taken away from them.
