BACKGROUND
Phonic teaching is instrumental in improving spelling skills of learners. learners at
Destiny Primary School are going to investigate the impact of phonic drills in the
mastery of English spellings and sentence construction.

PART A RESEARCH: (10 marks)

PHONICS
 Writing down 5 words which start with the sp sound.

 Writing down 5 words which start with the st sound.

PART B: Dictated words and Spellings (15 marks)


 Writing down ten dictated words.

 Writing down five dictated sentences.

How will you be assessed


 The CALA will be assessed out of 25.
 Your teacher will dictate ten words and five sentences.
 Marks will be awarded as to how many words or sentences correctly written.
 Achievement standard will be provided to make you aware of the works for
each stage.
