Proverbs (Salawikain)

PPT CONTENT
 A proverb is a short, concrete phrase that reflects a truth based on common sense or
experience and is widely recognized and repeated. They’re frequently metaphorical.
 These were traditionally utilized by our forefathers as laws or guidelines of good
behavior. Others see these as allegories or parables that teach children valuable lessons.
EXPLANATION:
Filipino proverbs, or salawikain, reflect the country's values. Despite the fact that they have been
narrated and passed down from generation to generation, the principles and lessons they transmit
to us remain relevant today.
Proverbs are rhyming proverbs that contain practical advice and philosophy for everyday living.
It is clearly intended to amuse while also teaching basic survival skills in the local environment.
These are referred to as salawikain in Filipino, sawikain in Tagalog, and sarsarita in Ilocano.
Philippine proverbs, like other proverbs around the world, contain proverbs that dictate rules,
teach a lesson, or simply reflect the community’s conventional norms, traditions, and beliefs.

Wala kang masasabunot sa kalbo.

offer what they don’t have. This also applies to appealing to an emotion that a person does not
have, such as asking an uncharitable individual for money or urging someone to love us when
they don’t feel the same way.
