    1) A trigonometric equation involving one or more trigonometric ratios of an unknown angle is called a trigonometric equation. 2) The value of the unknown angle which satisfies the trigonometric equation is known as the principal solution. 3) Since trigonometric functions are periodic, the solution of a trigonometric equation can be generalized using the periodicity of the trigonometric functions. This generalized solution consisting of all possible solutions is called the general solution.
