    The rubric evaluates English portfolios based on 5 criteria: writing skills, reading comprehension, grammar/punctuation, vocabulary/spelling, and cleanliness. For each criterion there are 5 potential achievement levels ranging from outstanding to poor. An outstanding portfolio demonstrates excellent writing abilities, comprehension of texts, proper grammar, a wide vocabulary, and is neat with no dirt or stains. A poor portfolio shows weak writing, little understanding of texts, numerous grammar mistakes, limited vocabulary, and is very disorganized.
