3rd Quarter NATIONAL SIMULTANEOUS EARTHQUAKE DRILL
(NSED)
It is important to orient people on earthquake preparedness in order to be informed of what to do
before, during and after an earthquake. During an earthquake, learners are one of the most vulnerable. As such, it is important for school administrators and teachers to be informed on how to properly conduct an earthquake drill. Teachers are the ones who will guide the students. They are the ones who will teach learners how to protect themselves. The conduct of an earthquake drill requires planning and designing of evacuation procedure, as well as orienting teachers and ultimately learners on how to do the earthquake drill. The NSED is a quarterly activity which aims to educate the public on disaster preparedness against earthquakes, showcase government capability on disaster response and to test the pre-designed contingency plans of individuals local disaster risk reduction and management councils (LDRRMCs). Pursuant to the Regional Memorandum, all Schools Division Offices and Schools are enjoined to conduct the 3rd Quarter National Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED) to test and evaluate the effectiveness of various contingency plans, systems, and policies of schools and other DepEd field offices in the eventuality of disasters and/or emergencies. Before the conduct of the earthquake drill, the learners are instructed what to do during an earthquake. Teachers, learners and staff of Eugenio P. Perez National High school conducted the school earthquake drill on September 7, 2023 at two o’clock in the afternoon. The drill was started by ringing the bell and the learners, teachers and staff of Eugenio P. Perez National High school all participated actively. The drill was smoothly done because the learners knew already on what to do when an earthquake occurs based on their previous experiences on earthquake drill. In summary, the 3rdQuarter National Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED) 2023 was successful; nobody was hurt because the routine was systematic and the entire school populace was cooperative during the said activity.
