The diaphragmpump will not sufferif run dry due to an empty tank. However,a "starved"suctiondue to a
cloggedstraineror a closedsuctionvalvewill causeprematurefailureof the pump diaphragms.NOTE: Only
use filterscreensthat are between10 & 20 mesh. Neveruse a fine filterscreenwith a diaphragmpump.
4. SUCTION VALVE (To prevent pump damage, shut down system before closing suction valve.)
This valve is in the systemto close off tank flow for emergencysystem repairor if strainerscreen requires
unexpectedcleaningaftera tank refill. (Strainerscreenshouldbe cleanedjust beforeeach tank refill.)

7, PULSATIONDAMPENERINTRODUCTION
It is the natureof diaphragmpumps to have some pulsation. This is caused by sudden changesin piston
direction. The pulsationdampenerhas one functionin the pumpingsystem, reducepulsationby providinga
cushionof air to bump against. The UDOR pulsationdampeneruses a rubberbladderto separatethe air

Establishingand following a maintenancescheduleis a good investment. It will
add greatly to the longevity of your pump and your sprayer.

UDOR DIAPHRAGM PUMP MAINTENANCE PROCEDURE

ST EPN O.1 'AFTER EACH USE' flush pump with cleanwater. Most diaphragm " attacks"
occur when chemicalsare left sitting in the pump. Thesefew minutes of clean-
ing are well spent, extending diaphragm life and minimizing chemical buildup
throughout the system

STEPNO. 2 'AFTER EVERY500HOURS OF USE OR AT SEASON'SEND'(whichever

comesfirst). Install a new set of diaphragms. Inspect checkvalves for spring
fatigue and seatwear. Changeoil using UDOR LUBE or a non-detergent 40
weight oil: hand rotate shaft while filling. This evacuatesmost unwanted air
pockets. Run pump five minutes under "rro-load" conditions. This evacuates
remaining air pocketsfrom diaphragm cavity. Recheckoil level.

STEP NO. 3 'WINTER STORAGE" Perform Step L (above),theru with tank empty and
suction and dischargevalves "opetr", run pump one minute to ensurecomplete
drainageof pump headsand lines. Recirculateantifreezeand leavein systemto
completewinterizing procedure.

NOTE: Allow antifreezeto replaceany possiblewater in hosesand booms. If a handgun

is in the system, run antifreezethrough the hoseand handgun into tank lid open-
ing to clearand/ or dilute water. (Dependingon the length of hose, more than one
gallon of antifreezemay be required to protect the systemfrom freezing).

NOTE
TO PROTECT AGAINST SERIOUSINIURY NEVER SPRAY
FLAMMABLE LIQUIDS, OR FLUSH PUMP WITH FLAMMABLE LIQUIDS!
THIS WILL VOID ANY AND ALL WARRANTIES.
