I – OBJECTIVES
At the end of the 50-minute discussion, with 85% proficiency level, the pupils are able to:
A. identify the names of constellations;
B. illustrate distinct star patterns of constellation through star arrangement activity; and
C. give importance of knowing the star patterns or constellations.

B. Reference: Science 5 SLM, Quarter 4 – Module 5, K-12 Curriculum Guide Grade 5
Quarter 4 (identifies star patterns that can be seen at particular times of the year)
C. Materials: Printed Papers, Speaker, Manila Paper, Glue, Marker,
Projector, Envelope, Double-Sided Tape, and Colors.
D. Methods/Strategies: Collaborative Learning, Technology-Based Approach,
Interactive Learning Approach

Group of stars we see at night.
Some looks man, lady-like,
Objects, animals seen at night.

Constellations oh so bright,
Visible on moonless night.

 What are those children?  The types of motions of Earth is


rotation and revolution.
 What is Rotation?  Rotation is the movement of the
earth on its axis.
 What is Revolution?  The movement of the earth around
the sun in a fixed path or orbit.
 How many hours does rotation
takes?  24 hours.

 How many days does Revolution


takes?  365 days.

B. Developmental Activity
a. Motivation
(The teacher will flash some pictures of
stars in the TV).
 Everyone, try to look at the pictures
shown in the TV. What are those?  Stars, teacher!
 Have you watched Tom and Jerry?  Yes, teacher!
(Show a clip of Tom and Jerry
fighting and Tom have stars in head).
 What are those things in Tom’s
head?  Stars, teacher!

 Have you seen stars during night?  Yes, teacher.

 Do you know that these stars have


different patterns?  No, teacher.

b. Introduction of the New Topic


 What do you think is the topic we will
going to discuss today?  Stars, teacher.

 Today, we will be going to know what

each group will have these
envelopes. Each envelope contains
pictures of star patterns, names, and
the other materials needed for the
activity. I will explain later the activity
of each group after the video
presentation.

in the manila paper given in the
envelope. Write your group number in
the upper part of the manila paper and
the group members below the manila
paper. Choose your reporter to report
your outputs. You have 5 minutes to do
the activity.

Hemisphere. Answer the following questions and write your answers on ½ sheet of
paper.

1. What constellations are visible in the Southern Hemisphere during


summer?
2. What constellations are visible in the Northern Hemisphere during winter?
3. When and where is Pisces visible?
4. What is/are the constellation/s that can be seen in Northern Hemisphere
and can also be seen in Southern Hemisphere?
